Men, my fellow brothers, if there is one must-have accessory you cannot live without this summer, it is a good pair of sunglasses.

Like many accessories, sunglasses stemmed from a very practical purpose: can protect your eyes from the intensity of light. Also, they are, without any doubt, an excellent way to add glamour, mystique and cool to the face.

"Intricately connected to the concept of cool"ㅡthis is the very reason which holds sway above all others. They have become the standard uniform of rock stars and celebrities and by wearing them, even the most ordinary of us feel that little bit cooler: some sunglasses are perfect to sport with your work attire, others are more casual when you are hitting up the beach, and some are a must-have when you are just trying to make a statement.

Sunglasses were not what they are now at their origin. The first known record of eye-protectors says they were made by the Inuit, who flattened ivory and cut out small slits to see through.

In ancient China, sunglasses were used in the 12th century or possibly earlier. For centuries, Chinese judges had routinely worn smoke-colored quartz lenses to conceal their eye expressions in court.

It was not until the 20th century that modern-type sunglasses came to be. In 1929, Sam Foster, founder of the Foster Grant company sold the first pair of Foster Grant sunglasses and by 1930, sunglasses were all the rage.

Diagnose Your Face Shape

Either sunglasses will protect you and make you appear stylish and full of swagger, or they will make you look like a first class jerk. It all comes down to picking the right type of sunglasses for your face shape. So finding a pair that is just right is extremely rewarding. Of course, this all hinges on getting your head around face shapes and which sunglasses styles suit eachㅡsomething we have shed some light on here.
