Sunnysunday Vortex and Contrails

in sunnysunday •  6 years ago

I like new tags that people come up with. Some of them can be quite fun. This #sunnysunday one is by my wife @shasta to complement her #bouldersunday. I myself do not have a lot of boulder pictures yet, but I do have some nice sunset and sunny pictures.

We took a drive on Friday in hopes of finding some different feathered friends for @keithboone's #featheredfriday post. It was a good day for a drive, I got a nice picture of a pigeon, and eagle. I also got a few of the mountains for tomorrow's post on #mountainmonday.

But on with the show, this is about the sun, not the wonderful new happening tags. (which I just love). No rewards no nothing just people sharing a passion for one thing or another I think that is pretty cool. Oh yeah I said on with the show.

These two pictures were taken on Friday, with my Nikon D7500 camera, and yes I used a tripod I wanted to get some nice shots, and I think I did. I am really beginning to like this big zoom monster lens. I can not imagine what an 800mm zoom would be like after using this 400mm lens, but I bet it would be great.

Enough words and teasing you have already seen the thumbnail and want to see the big picture. Two contrails lighted by the setting sun. The contrails were from jets descending into the Anchorage airport I am pretty sure. Click the Big Picture link to get a slightly larger view of the picture.

I am not familiar with the name of the mountain in the background, but I thought that the contrails and then the vortex looking cloud made a really nice picture. I did not even really need to do to much to the picture, I had to slightly level the picture, and then crop to take out the transparent part of the rotation, then resized so I could easily upload the picture, no color boosting or other editing was done.

On the close in of the vortex clouds I did nothing other than resize. I was very pleased that the camera did capture the pillar of sun, I was not sure it would but it is there.

Friday was one of those nice days for a drive, and once again it was one of those let's go for a drive spur of the moment things.

What delightful shots and what a cool tag, with the cold here we desperatly need Sunny Sundays :)

I'm enjoying the new batch of tags, now I just need to do a 5 part walk post highlighting all the stops, I haven't decide friday or last tuesday, or maybe this tuesday or wednesday if we go on a photo hunt. I like mixing my tags up a bit at the bottom, I can combine the whynot and havefun tags together, (whynothavefun), if I need a real second tag.

Its always good to have new tags come up inspires people to try and do posts related to them :)

Your photos are beautiful!

Thank you it was a good day for a drive.

Whoa.. That sure is a pretty sunset! Beautiful shots bashadow.
