Bud Racing Kawasaki have announced today that fill in rider Lorenzo Lucurcio will be leaving the MX2 program to return to the US. He was signed to compete in the MX2 division for the FIM Motocross World Championship but after failing to receive a passport extension the team have been forced to let the rider go and look elsewhere.

"See you all at Nashville. With the current situation of my country it has been impossible to get an extension for my passport,” the native of Venezuela wrote on Instagram. “My family and I have tried everything in our power with help from others and still haven’t gotten it. I’ve made a decision to stay in America and finish what I’ve started. Sometimes you make some decisions and they work great and sometimes you make others and they don’t work out. I’m very bummed but at the same time I’m more motivated than ever to finish this supercross season in a very high note thank you kissimmeemotorsports for the continued support!"

With all the trouble in Venezuela right now this could be bad news for any thoughts of a European career for Lucurcio, hopefully he can make a name for himself in the US.
