Another rider that has had a seriously tough season in the 2018 Monster Energy Supercross Series so far is Martin Davalos. The Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki rider has been battling with multiple injuries since the start of the 250 SX East Championship started. The first turn crash in Arlington beat him down pretty bad, then there was a huge collision in Texas but somehow he battled through and finished the race. He was even unable to practice riding during the week before St Louis due to pain and a crash in the evenings Main Event sealed his season.

There has been little to no news about his injuries or recovery since but it seems that silence has been broken. It was announced that he sustained a fractured C7 vertebra, which while very painful, does not require surgery to fix which is great news. As the rest period for recover is substantial the decision was taken to undergo surgery to fix his outstanding knee injury.

As you can imagine the recovery time for both of these issues is substantial and there is no way he will be lining up for any more Supercross races this season and I expect he will miss a chunk of the 2018 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship also. No timeline has been set for his return as of yet.

"Hey guys! I just wanted give you all an update as this season has been very tough for me. As most of you know, I was in pretty bad shape after the Dallas crash. After a ton of evaluations and numerous doctor visits we learned that in addition to the herniated disc that I had been dealing with, I also have a broken C7. I’m feel beyond blessed by the Lord for keeping me safe while I was racing with this condition, also very fortunate that there is no need for spinal surgery. After taking what the doctors have said about my neck into consideration, we’ve decided I’m gonna need some time to really heal up and get better. With that being said, I decided to also get my knee fixed that way when I come back my body can be at 💯 percent. I’m beyond thankful for everybody that has had my back while going thru this.... also can’t thank everyone enough on the team for working so hard for all of us, it’s been nothing but amazing to be a part of the monsterenergy pcraceteam racekawasaki once again, I hope to be back soon but till then I'm gonna make sure my body is at its best 🙏"
