Ok so it's Easter Sunday and i guess people are getting a little to much chocolate in their diet haha... but there are some crazy rumors flying about...

There have been rumors flying around the pits this seasons at the Monster Energy Supercross Series that the current, but retired Champ, Ryan Dungey is planning a come back to racing! They even go as far as to say that he will race the upcoming outdoor Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship!

Ok so let's look at the facts and then make out own decision, i don't buy it myself... Dungey stepped away from the sport whilst at the very top, also he was under intense pressure from riders such as Tomac and Roczen. I don't for one minute think this takes away from his results or his skill before anyone chips in with that. He beat them both flat out fair and square, you need to check his last seasons average finishing position to see the truth to this. He posted an average finish of 2.6 and claiming 13 podiums in his final season, i mean that is ridiculous!

So let's take that all into account and then think about about why he stepped down. He was looking at the high chance of injury whilst riding at that level. He had already picked up some fractures to his vertebrae from a crash in the 2016 outdoor season and anything on top of something like that could be life changing. To ride at the very top of this sport you need to throw it all in, no regrets, to keep doing that week in, week out you need to be sure your body can cash the cheque.

I'm sure the rumors come from hope more than anything else and it's a sign of the impact the rider himself had on the sport. Every year you hear stories about James Stewart coming out of retirement or Ryan Villopoto making a come back. This should always be taken with a pinch of salt but i think it's a good thing. Let people remember the great riders and also treasure them. They gave us hours, weeks and years of entertainment and they risked it all... To show we miss them is to show them how much we appreciated what they sacrificed.

Thank you Dungey and i hope you enjoy retirement :)
