My Love of Football began as a boy when my family moved to Italy. The first match I ever watched was a Serie C match between Avellino and another club(I can't recall) but it was incredibly exciting because Avellino was fighting for the chance to be promoted to Serie B, one level up. In the rest of the world, MERIT, based on winning gets you promoted to a higher competitive system. More about that later.
The latest iteration from a group of wealthy teams in Europe seems to want to follow the USA based closed system. In the USA, there are no merits to winning..except that at the end of a season, they play a playoff and at that point; even a team that's 10th in the table can ultimately win the Russian Roulette and win their "Championship".
With the advent of a few of the top teams in Europe coming under the ownership of American Franchise Sports owners. They, as the greedy, err shrewd businessmen that they are, are trying to stop any danger of "relegation" by creating a "Super League" of sorts! Only problem is, this particular group, although some teams have won many Championships and awards. Some certainly have not..and are only making this play for the complete GREED of it all. It's bringing this American mentality of sports to cultures who, although is now based in money...ultimately were more tied to merit.
My take is..DO NOT SUPPORT this SuperLeague. Football, is of course, entertainment. And although in some communities it's engrained in daily life, etc. This new brand of "owner" doesn't care about the GAME or the Past Culture. They only care about the money and making more of it...
