Super Blue Blood Moon

in supermoon •  7 years ago

A lunar eclipse on the 2nd Full Moon of the month while the Moon is at its closest part of its orbit. I took over 200 exposures over 3 hours and decided on a simple composite of the event. It started close to 11pm and finished around 2am. I was home by 3am and haven't slept much since. I've read over this post several times and corrected spelling and grammar mistakes. I think I need to get some more sleep.

Good night everyone!

What lens did you shoot it with ?

I guess 300mm ;) haha

Canon 100-400 with a 2x extender. The detail quality isn't great on each image but it's not too bad when composited

Cool. Nice that you got out. I set my alarm for 5am and work up and it was cloudy so went back to bed. Then was up at 5:45 and it was clear ! But too late to get out onto the lake and shoot some pictures. Kids change your perspective on sleep. You have all that to look forward to soon !

We had a cloudy night for sunset and Google was telling us it would be clear where we planned to go. I think we were some of the lucky ones in Australia. So many people have said they missed it due to cloud.

Kids won't change my life or sleeping patterns one bit....

..I'm screwed aren't I?

If your currently getting up every 2-3 hours , then no , its wont change your sleep patterns !

I missed this once in a lifetime event. So cloudy in this part of the planet.

Everyday is a once in a lifetime event :)

yeah, sure it is, but this one, you cannot say " I can do it tomorrow instead."

I read it was coming, but missed it anyway. Thank you staying up late and capturing this for us, lazy bums : )

I was very close to skipping it myself. I had others there to drag me along

Wow! These look incredible, I kept staring at the moon tonight, wishing I could take a photo of it, but I would never actually be able to accomplish that (not to mention the UK only got a super blue moon). Well done!

Thanks! I'm sure the UK will get an eclipse in the not too distant future

Nice mate. I watched it here out the window of my bedroom but did not make it out to photograph.

I enjoyed it most through the viewfinder. Appreciating the event with my own eyes instead of through the screen

Haha, I know the feeling! And I like your series - I've photographed a blood moon twice and never got a complete beginning-to-end.

Your solar eclipse trumps everything else anyway! ;)

One is never satisfied. ;)

Lol !! Moon looks very hot ;)

Mars V2.0 ;)

WELL glad someone on here was able to have clear skies!!

Looks great!

Seems there was a lot of cloud around from what I've been hearing!

Beautiful photos, it rained all night were I am so no chance to have a glimpse. Thank you for showing what I missed ;)

That's a shame! I nearly missed it because it was past my bedtime!

Nicely done! Very cool presentation. Worth all the hard work!

Thank you very much :)

Nice. I didn't see it in Panama.

I think a lot of Aussie's missed it here too because of cloud cover

I love your shot Kieran! last night I also photographed it :)

Thanks a bunch! Did you get some good photos?

Very Exciting. Awesome shot.

Thank you!
