Hi Steemians
Someone nominated me for supporthonesty challenge so i decided to write something about it. To be honest my motivation to post on steemit is not as high as it used to be, and to save my steem power i only post every 2 days now, used to be everyday.
The reward system needs to change
I think the reward system needs to change, sometimes people write a good quality content and it takes them hours to create, and it gets a lot of views and upvotes compared to a short no quality content but the person knows a whale friend that decided to give him/her an upvote, and the quality content will be rewarded only pennies while the other one get few dollars.
But the whale also deserves to give upvote to whoever he/she likes as he/she has invested the money to buy Steempower or have earned the steempower.
So how do we reward quality contents from the people with low steem power while still giving incentives to people who invest to buy more steem?
People come for money instead of the contents
Many people come and do not read much of the contents posted , instead posting random comments sometimes not related to the post at all, hoping to be lucky and get some upvote from the content creator.
How do we get people to come on Steemit genuinely for the content instead of the reward, like on utube?
My last post about Emirates business class got me over $30, that was encouraging, although i am not here for the money, but i liked the recognition that someone appreciated my post . Well, the tickets cost me way more than $30 but it was still nice to see

Seriously I agree with you! Some quality contents has no space at the trending, coz everything is handling by whales! Anyway I tried to rbing something new, but seems I also failed with TRDO token at Steem-engine.com
Anyway I am still trying to power it up to share incentives to quality content providers! Things should be change and I hope it will happen! So far STEEM seems made effective changes to the system and to the users as well! So I wish things will be smoothly change as we thought! Yeah when STEEM market price up I see a lot of people came in and now we are little drop comparing to others. So they left the platform! But I think people who addicted with this, still trying their best to bring this up!

thank you theguruasia, yes very hard to find the balance to attract investors and content creators, currently there is no incentive to upvote a good content, so even though one may enjoy a post he/she may choose not to upvote as it is voluntary to do so, and then give the vote to a friend who would be upvoting back as a return of favor

I hear that, unfortunately its hard to make it with content in the real world as it is on steemit, its more about making connections and networking

Yes, I really hope they can get the SMT stuff going I think it should help but even without that lots of tokens and things build on steemit

Very difficult! There are more competing Dapps so it’s going to get worse!
People who stay on, do so because of their friends and communities, the rewards are negligible! (Too small to be a good investment).

thank you kaminchan, yes actually i have been losing money on steem, but still here for things other than the rewards, it is really hard to find the balance between attracting people to come for other than the rewards and for investors to have incentives to buy more steem

Oh! No! I hope your investment in Steem will pay off in the medium term.
It seems that those who get lots of followers and upvotes are on discord chatting everyday and they went on Steemfest! Those are the real investors.
But I notice big accounts are powering down!
Most analysis says Steem blockchain is getting stronger and has the biggest number of users!
So, we haven’t reached the critical mass yet!

True words, although it is very difficult to change the system which is hijacked by whales who scratch each other back but still one can understand that every journey start with single step. The first step is to do self accountability. If we as a user of steem member acknowledge the quality content of people it will make a difference. It will not only encourage creativity in his work but also gives hope to perform better. If possible deligate some power to creative writer.

Quality is the big problem and if someone tries to post they don't get appreciated that's so true hopefully the upcoming HF 21 will be able to provide some way to that

thank you blazing, yes because there is currently no incentive to upvote a good quality content, so i may enjoy your post but choose not to upvote it, and then the content creator gets discourage to post next time, so qualities get worse
