There are many people in our country who have been affected by DISABILITY. This includes the mentally ill, physically disabled, and the mentally retarded. As a result, they need support in their relationships. The following paragraphs will discuss the different types of DISABILITY and how they can play a role in your relationship.
Physical Disabilities include Cancer, Parkinson's disease, cerebral palsy, Multiple Sclerosis, Lou Gehrig's Disease, cystic fibrosis, and traumatic brain injuries. These people usually require special medical care and support in order to survive. They also experience a wide array of emotional and social issues, such as isolation, fear of abandonment, and depression. Psychological disabilities, on the other hand, affect the thoughts, emotions, motivation, and behavior of the affected person.
Intellectual disabilities are divided into three categories: Down Syndrome, Fragile X Syndrome, and dyslexia. People with these kinds of disabilities may have learning disabilities that make it difficult for them to function normally in school. They may also have mental abilities that are so impaired that they are unable to take part in everyday activities or go through normal social interactions. Intellectual disabilities are therefore varied and real-life experiences vary for each person with one.
Emotional disabilities range from feeling worthless, to being unable to feel love, to being unable to develop healthy relationships. People with these problems do not know how to relate to others and suffer from severe discomfort in trying to interact with others. This kind of disables a person physically but can impact their ability to form healthy relationships in their daily life. Mood disorders are another type that is caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain. People with this problem often exhibit extreme changes in moods and behavior and can interfere with day-to-day activities.
There are a variety of ways in which you can support people with disabilities. The most common is through assisting them with their personal lives. This means making sure that they have a sense of worth, creating a strong support network, and encouraging them to lead a fulfilling lifestyle. There are many different kinds of support groups that people can join including support groups for single parents, couples, professionals, or military families. Depending on what the disability is that a person has there are many support groups and organizations that can provide a variety of techniques and tools that will help improve their lives.
When you start out working with a person who is having a disability, you may find that their lack of ability to interact with others makes them feel lonely. You can show them that despite their impairment they are still important to you by spending time just with them. It is important to keep them involved in all areas of your relationship whether it is work romance, friends, family, or church. By doing this you will gain their trust and their respect which will make them feel better about themselves.
Some people with disabilities may even be afraid to speak up and ask for help when it comes to relationships. They may feel that people will laugh at them or not take them seriously if they tell them that they are having problems. By taking the time to get to know a person who has a disability, you can help them learn how to deal with their impairment. You may even be able to teach them how to become more self-confident when it comes to interacting with people. By doing so, you will be providing an essential skill to people who have disabilities in relationships.
As you can see, there are many ways that you can support people who have disabilities in relationships. By learning more about them and finding out their needs, you can provide them with the tools they need to move forward and build strong and lasting relationships. Your support can change their life and make them stronger, smarter, and happier. If you are willing to provide this support, then you will find yourself loving every moment of it.
