Roy Stuart a fairly well known eccentric surfboard maker has sold a handcrafted wooden surfboard to a New Zealand buyer for a staggering $1.5 million dollars! The board is sculpted from paulownia wood and bears a gold “Rampant” heraldic lion logo. Roy Stuart started making surfboards full time in the 90s and currently utilizes 3D printing technology to make high-performance polycarbonate surfboard fins. Despite their artistic looks, Roy says his surfboards are made with the surfer in mind are feels they are high performance wave riding vehicles.
