Ladies and Gents, Today we will take a look at the Lifestraw. I have made a DIY filter to compare to the mighty Straw of Life!! So let's find out if you get into a SHTF Scenario if this DIY method will size up. I hope you enjoy this video!! Thank you. : )

Nicely done, and a fun practical demo. If you're going to be guarding against any biocontamination, though, I'd never trust any homebrew filter, or even most of the commercial ones. All it takes is one microCC with a few wiggly critters in it to make its way around all of your carbon and cotton, and you'll be doubled over wishing for death for a couple days. Remember that you have to worry about viruses as well as bacteria, and they are orders of magnitude smaller. As you brought up at the end, boiling or chem sanitization are the only ways to be sure. Chlorine or Iodine are cheap & easy to carry, and no fire needed. The filters will make it look and taste nicer after you've done that.

Thanks for the demo! Upvoted as always...

Yea man. I totally agree. I always recommend boiling water unless it's not possible. I don't trust any water I find. I might even go as far as boiling old bottled water as well. Or some kind of chemical sanitization like bleach, chlorine, peroxide. Whatever's handy at the time.

I agree with this. Water can be scary!

Yes it certainly can be! Boil boil boil! Lol

Also thank you very much! 😀

Two thumbs up for the ingenuity for the homemade filter not sure i would trust it for drinking water though lol

Thanks man. And yea I'm not sure either but the water clarity is pretty decent if you just let it drip. But still I always revert back to just boiling it. It's your safest bet anyways. But good news is I don't feel like crap. Lol. I mean I didn't actually drink it but I'm sure I accidentally swallowed some of it. Haha.

test the Sawyer Mini....I have a bunch of LifeStraws (filters have expiration dates????) but the Sawyer Mini beats 'em out IMHO.

I'll have to do a video on that one! I was debating on which one to get too! Shoulda got the Sawyer! Lol. Everything expires; even the expiration dates! Hahaha

Lifestraws aren't bad by any measure...I have a bunch stashed in my bags and more. I just feel the Sawyer Mini give you a better bang for your buck, not to mention the smaller space requirement in your bag.

I totally am having the wife buy me one for an early bday present. Lol. I saw that it has an adapter for a camelback and I was in at that point! Lol

That's the latest marketing failure from Lifestraw...I have a bunch that are individually sealed in their own packaging before they launched their marketing heavy new packaging....some BS

That's crappy man. Making me want the Sawyer more and more. Lol

I smell a video comparison!

If you don't I will! Lol

I'll leave it to the pros like you

Lol. Thanks Brother. I'll make sure you get an honorable mention!

2 is 1 and 1 is none

Blimey!!! I turn my back for 5 minutes and you've added 300 posts LOL ;)

Lol. Sorry man! Well at least that gives you plenty to catch up on. Haha. And at least you won't be bored! : P

So true :)

:)

Lovely post, Followed and Upvote you.. need same favor from you.

Ok. Thanks! 😀

The end of the Gatorade as we know it. Winner: Lifestraw! Many other types of filtration products out there as well, Pure Hydration is what the British miltary uses. Costco has inexpensive filters for cheap now! Aloha bro.

Lol. Yea. That Gatorade still tasted pretty good. Haha. Yea I figured I'd throw this together to see what happens. I was going to try the Sawyer mini next. Thanks brother. Aloha to you as well!
