in survivalism •  5 years ago

If you haven't heard of Kurt Saxon, don't feel bad.
Most people haven't.

For those of you that didn't know, he is the father of modern survivalism.

I know you have heard of the survivalists.
Now they like to call themselves preppers because survivalist scared the snowflakes.

Today I would like to bring you his video special, but because nobody has made the pull request to allow archive.org links to embed, well, here we are.

Story continues.

I am doing these weekly excerpts in the hopes that I strike a curious bone in you.
There are thousands of pages of homemade happiness in this archive.org link.
You can page through them at your leisure.

If you are in charge of preparing your own utopia, you will find invaluable time savers.
Many of the things you can't afford today can be made from plans already in the public domain.
Mostly you need handtools and the will to learn something new.

Having these books available to your affinity group will prove invaluable in a time of need.
If you need a job, and have the stuff laying around, you will find literally 100's of things that you can make from scrap to sell or trade for the things that you need.

This guy is great! I think one of the first posts I ever read on steem was one of yours concerning Kurt Saxon. Is that possible? Or is Saxon just a really popular topic on steem? Either way, I've got this bookmarked so that I can finish that two hour video I'm watching now. Thanks for posting it.

It's possible, he is one of my favorite topics.
I just wish I had gone back to look for him sooner.
His passing was uncelebrated from what I can tell.
He was difficult, I met him twice.
But, his work stands on its own.
If you bookmark the archive.org link it has nearly everything.

Great resource, bookmarked. It is amazing to me how we have lost so much of this knowledge. From the baby boomers to today, so much of our heritage, even down to simple things to take care of ourselves, has been lost (? suppressed). The blockchain is a great place to reassemble this, and this knowledge sharing is the main reason I joined Steem. Thank you for sharing.

No problem, thanks for reading and commenting.
That archive link has most of his books.
The Survivor, and the PMJB, are thousands of pages of homemade happiness.
Until you open them, it will seem that not much is there, but the Survivor has at least 12 volumes and the PMJB has 6.
Some are not in the public domain, yet.
