Yet another simple thing that is most likely overlooked in a time of panic: something to write with.

You know, the old-fashioned way of data recording: writing!

There are a myriad of things you may need to remember in the longterm or short term, and sorry to be the bringer of bad news, but your short-term memory can only hold 7 items on average. This is why it is just barely possible for many people to remember a whole phone number.

Well, if your electronics die, no worries, because you can still have a "notepad" of your own, which will never die! As you can see, I have a couple small notebooks which very easily can fit in a backpack or maybe even somebody's pockets!

Also, another great thing to have is a PENCIL SHARPENER! Not only is this highly useful for the obvious task of sharpening pencils, but it can also be used to sharpen things like sticks, to be used as a tool or a weapon, and the wooden shavings also make GREAT kindling, for starting a campfire! The ability to create a fire could mean life or death in some situations!

So make sure you have a manual pencil sharpener in your bug-out bag!
