There are many people entering the crypto space right now, and even just a couple years of experience can give you enough confidence and know-how to help others stay safe and take advantage of great options as far as how you want to store and secure your digital assets. Here, I have displayed my Ledger Nano S Hardware Wallet, and my Bitpay Debit card.
Before I go on, I'd like to tell you how important it is to use 2-factor authenticator! Google Authentication is the most popular app, and it makes your accounts wayyyyy more secure.
Somebody could easily call your cellphone service provider, pretend to be you, and have your phone number ported to another phone, so they can get your verification codes, and login on your exchange accounts. This is really bad, and easily preventable with 2-factor authentication!!
Another thing I'd like to point out is that keeping your coins in an exchange is NOT SECURE and it is always preferable to actually have a majority of whatever you think you have. Really there are 2 ways of doing this mostly: a hard wallet and a paper wallet.
Paper wallets are not very popular at all, and since I don't really understand anything about them, I'm not going to pretend to. They're essentially a way to print out your coins, addresses, etc.
Hard wallets are really what everybody's talking about, and purchasing like crazy. Right now, to get the LEAST expensive hard wallet, it's a month and a half wait until shipping time! Time to order, people!! It is the smartest decision you could make, if you plan on hodling. A hard wallet allows you to HOLD your coins. Not on somebody's server, but IN your hand, able to be sent to ANYWHERE, as long as you have internet. There is a referral link in my bio to go buy the cheapest hard wallet; the Nano S, the same one I have (:
I also signed up through Bitpay in the USA to get this Visa debit card for if I ever need to access my crypto on the go! Since I mostly have altcoins, all I'd need to do is sell to bitcoin, then send to my bitpay address! Takes a couple minutes!
You need to make sure you have as many options as possible. In the USA, the options are somewhat limited. Some apps like XAPO and UQUID don't offer debit cards in the USA, so you have to look around for what is supported in your country!
Stay safe with your coins, people! Here is my referral link to Ledger if you'd like to get the most moderately-priced hard wallet (the Ledger Nano S) https://www.ledgerwallet.com/r/07e0

Thanks for the tips. I read a story about someone who had his Coinbase hacked because someone called his cell phone carrier and had his number ported to a different phone. Don't want to make the same mistake.

Yup! It is SO MESSED UP! Everybody's always saying "Bitcoin was hacked", and it's the exchanges! Same thing as having your money in the bank. You don't actually have it. I always get calls from people panicking like "Is your Coinbase working???" And then I check, and mine works, but theirs doesn't 😂 And I didn't even need mine to work, I was just checking for them. Really lame. They get WAY too much traffic. But there and then send somewhere else IMMEDIATELY! Anywhere is better than CB!
