The sky pool, which connects two of the best apartment buildings in the UK, is a hot topic. According to CNN on the 27th, there is a swimming pool on the rooftops of the two buildings of Embassy Gardens. A 10-story residential-commercial apartment building in Nine Elms, a village of the River Thames in London, England.
This transparent swimming pool, called Sky Pool, is about 25 meters long and 3.3 meters deep. It is a transparent form that swimmer can see clearly on all sides. The water that fills an acrylic swimming pool weighing 50 tons reaches 375 tons. At both ends of the swimming pool, stairs, filtration systems, and lights that can be switched to five modes were installed.
From the Sky Pool, you can see the streets of Nine Elms at a glance. Landmarks representing London, such as the London Eye and Westminster Abbey, are also visible. The swimming pool is open only to apartment residents for security reasons. There is also a restaurant and bar operation.
The Sky Pool was created in collaboration with Arub, a British architectural firm that has been in charge of extra-large projects such as the Opera House and Incheon International Airport in Sydney, Australia, and Reynolds, the world’s No. 1 aquarium acrylic production and construction company. It was manufactured at the Reynolds plant in Colorado, USA, and after undergoing rigorous strength testing, it was transferred to London, about 8000 km away, via land and sea.
“If you look down while swimming, you’ll feel like flying in the sky,” said Brian Eckersley, Skypool Construction Director. Sky Pool will open on the 19th of next month.
