After World War 2 a new nation that might have been less expected to do so entered the field of tank production: Switzerland.
To increase its independence from foreign arms imports, the "Eidgenössischen Konstruktionswerkstätte Thun" built 150 of these tanks. Armed with a british L7 rifled 105mm gun, it had more than adequate firepower. The last pieces left Swiss service in 1994.
