The Kurdish struggle from terrorist groups has been magnified only in Syria and in Iraq especially in western mainstream media, their suffering from the Turkish bombardment of their villages and towns is barely mentioned by the same outlets, there's a reason for that.
While in Iraq the Kurds managed to slice a huge chunk of the country and make an enclave for themselves depending on the income from the oil extracted from territories they controlled, their presence in Syria is marginal compared with the other Syrian ethnicities. Yet, they managed to control much larger land in Syria wherever their NATO-sponsored militia reached.

A concerned member of the Quora wiki Q & A social platform asked this question: Is it still possible to volunteer for the YPG/YPJ, and is there still a fight to be won in Rojava?
I was notified for and left an answer there which I'll be copying here to preserve it from Quora's heavy censorship and to share the answer with members of this platform, here's my reply:
Why would someone ever go to another country to fight for a shady militia group that has all the support NATO can provide against the indigenous people of that country?
Forget about the western mainstream media strange love for the YPG and its affiliates and successors: PKK, PYD, SDF, Asayish… Western mainstream media (aka MSM) has always proven to be the mouthpieces of the Pentagon to justify wars and always on the wrong side of history.
Side note: There’s no such thing as Rojava, it’s another attempt by the superpowers to Israelize new parts of the Levant and place people instead of others. The region referred to as that is mainly populated by Syrians of all ethnicities and the Kurds are the minor ethnicity of them all. By any assisting to their cause you’ll be assisting the creation of another Israel with all the horrific crimes against humanity that comes with it.
You also need to distinguish between the Kurds, in general, and the militia commanders, not all Kurds are militarized, and not all of them support the same militias, some even support parties fighting each other. The mainstream Syrian Kurds, who live scattered in the referenced Syrian region, support the Syrian government in Damascus, believe it or not, they have representatives in the Syrian Parliament and ministers and top officials in the Syrian state, and they and their representatives campaign against the creation of a separate entity in up north. The ‘Greater Kurdistan’ the USA and Israel are working to create will take large parts of Syria, Iraq, Iran, and NATO member state Turkey, it’s landlocked and all its trade and travel routes have to go through one or more of these countries. Imagine living in such a hostile environment.
Needless to say that each of these four nations Syria, Iraq, Iran, and Turkey sees the Kurdish project as existential threat to their people and territorial integrity, and will do whatever it takes to prevent it including fighting until the last one standing, the Kurds, in general, do not want to face such a future and they’re more than happy with the Iraqi large Kurdistan region they took already.
To leave one’s country and volunteer to help others in another country, you should be very much aware of their cause, whether it’s a just cause, will others be hurt, what is the end goal?
Never rely on western mainstream media for information and I’ll give you two very important quotes of two very knowledgeable figures:
“If you’re not careful, the newspapers (MSM of our time) will have you hating the people who are being oppressed, and loving the people who are doing the oppressing.” ~Malcolm X
and:
“If you don’t read the newspaper (follow MSM) you are uninformed, if you do read the newspaper you are misinformed.” ~Mark Twain.
You can support the people of the Levant by campaigning against NATO, specifically the US, British, and French intervention in the region in all shapes, forms, excuses, and at all times. Nothing good ever came from their interventions, especially in the Levant and Iraq.
There was no ISIS or Al-Qaeda presence in Iraq before the USA and Britain invaded the country to fight Al-Qaeda there then again redeployed to fight ISIS. There was no ISIS in Syria before the USA decided: “it was good, we saw it growing and thought it will pressure the Syrian President Assad.” ~John Kerry.
I’ll leave you with this overwhelmingly condemning the creation of the terrorist groups and by who with direct documented confessions:
