SkyNews report about violations committed by Turkish occupation forces and Turkey-backed jiahdist groups in Afrin.
Transcript:
A systematic process of Turkification in Afrin is met with silence by the political and armed forces that dominate Aleppo province.
After displacing hundreds of thousands, stealing their homes and confiscating their properties and agricultural lands,
the Turkish forces continue violating the rights of Afrin residents.
According to Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, those forces are changing the names of villages in the region’s countryside from Kurdish to Turkish.
This Turkification process is angering the people of Afrin.
And the Syrian Observatory confirms that the Turkish forces and Turkey-backed armed groups continue with the violations with impunity.
They include extorting farmers, business owners and those who travel between the towns and villages of Afrin region.
Civilians are now being detained on a daily basis to be used in extorting ransoms.
The Syrian Observatory confirms that the armed groups have detained tens of civilians last week.
And that the detention reasons range between false accusations of cooperation with Kurdish forces and adherence for them.
And that it is a method used by the armed groups to terrorize the residents of Afrin and force them to pay ransoms to finance themselves.
