Failures in the immune system make you bald

Vin Diesel and Bruce Willis are all men who have taken the bald hairstyle.

But for some people baldness is quite involuntary and is because the hair does not grow out again. That's what doctors call Alopecia areata or spot shortness.

Now, researchers from the University of California have found one of the reasons why the hair does not grow again, the university writes in a press release.

In a new study, researchers have experimented with mice and found that it is immune cells that cause stem cells to make new hair. Without these immune cells, stem cells simply can not make new hair.

"We think of immune cells like someone who gets to the tissue and combats infections, while stem cells rebuild the tissue after it's been damaged. But we have found that stem cells and immune cells work together for reconstruction, "says Michael Rosenblum, Ph.D. In dermatology and senior physicians on the new study, according to the press release.

More specifically, it is about the immune cells T-reg, which usually helps the body when there is inflammation. But they are also important if you want a powerful man.

»Our hair follicles are constantly being replaced. When a hair drops, a part of the hair follicle grows back. This has been thought to be due to stem cells, but it appears that the T-reg cells are essential. If the T-reg cells are not there, the hair does not grow again, "says Michael Rosenblum, according to the press release.

The study has just been published in the scientific journal.
