If you have decided to explore Tobacco plantations in Cuba I suggest you to go in Vinales, you can make a wonderful horseback excursion with a visit to the Tobacco plantation.

Tobacco is planted in a greenhouse between September and November, when the plant is at least 15 cm it is transplanted outdoors.
At half of the growth the upper bud is removed to concentrate the energy of plant in the development of leaves.
When tobacco will flower is ready to cut the flowers to collect seeds for the next season.
Once tobacco plants are ripe, leaves should be cut and taken to the dryer where the second most important phase of the tobacco takes place: drying.
The leaves, after being carried by hand in the "tapados", are placed on a wire and left to dry.
After about 30/60 days the leaves are treated with Grandpa's special recipe and moved according to quality.
After another 30/60 days they will be ready to become excellent tobacco cigars!
In fact, farmers left 90% of their production to the state where tobacco is delivered to large factories and it will become cigars for exportation.
The "torceadores" are able to process the tobacco and shape the cigars, and they will take care to realize final phase of the work, to confirm its realization.
About 30 cigars of excellent quality can be obtained from each plant.
