Finally started an official company for Dungeons & Dragons 5, which is called "Treasure of the Queen of Dragons." About an hour completed the characters. All the players played for the first time in D & D 5. Two players were new players, the maximum played me off a couple of times.
This company came out the very first and in fact the system itself was not completely ready, so there are some inaccuracies. Of the problems that the company paid me personally for the current game, this is the absence of all the necessary monsters in bestiary and it is very inconvenient, especially because even in the official bestiary there were no necessary creatures.
Since the company was played by 3 people, it was a good challenge for them, but they quickly got the first level. Although I do not understand until the end, maybe it's not quite right I give it out, or it's in the game all very quickly gaining a level.
What I liked. Now everything comes down to characteristics. You have skills, the presence of which simply gives a bonus on the cast of the characteristic, as well as with saving throws. This is quite convenient. The abundance of all kinds of fits a little confusing. As well as the class system from which I have already grown out of habit.
To play the presenter, you need to know in essence 3 books accurately. 1 player's book to help players. 2 Leader's book where there is any information for the leader in the management of the company, etc. 3 Bestiary, which describes all the characteristics of monsters. Additional materials are the book "Guide to Woah for monsters" and it is desirable to know information about such a setting as Forgotten Realms. This setting is the main one for the 5th edition of DND.
I like that all the checks are reduced to one. For magic, the caster does not even throw dice, instead the targets go through a saving throw against the skill of using magic. At least all the magic that came across worked this way. Also, the abundance of races and subras gives a very wide choice when creating characters. Presence of prehistory, in which there are random tablets allowing to create very interesting characters. And you can often get very interesting characters because of the selected race, class and prehistory
The disadvantages that I found at the moment. The abundance of necessary books for a comfortable driving game. I do not quite understand the advantages and hindrances, not the mechanism of their work, but for what to give them out, it may become clearer when read again. And boevka with the initiative is static and not as obvious as in the Diary of an adventurer.
In general, I want to continue to look and study this system, while it looks good. True, she can say a skew in the direction of the epic, here and at the start, the characters of the players are no longer any ragwomen, but normal such adventurers. Let's see what happens next, the beginning looks good, but so far it seems to me that the players are growing too fast in the level.
True, the game ended at the second meeting due to the fact that the players' characters were not cautiously ambushed and they were defeated by their superior forces.
After a while, I want to try again to lead, but already another campaign, let's see what will come of it.
