Halo- halo Filipino Way

 Halo-halo is a popular Filipino dessert especially when it is summer time its is a  mixture of shaved ice and evaporated/condensed milk to which various ingredients are added, including boiled sweet beans, coconut, sago, gulaman, fruits,  typically topped with purple yam, crème caramel, and ice cream. 

It came from the word halo in tagalog which means mix in English.

Ingredients of Halo-halo (" Mix-mix ")

  • Nata De Coco (coconut gelatin)
  • Pinipig (crisped rice)
  • Saba (fat banana variety)
  • Langka (jackfruit)
  • Munggo (mung beans)
  • Mais (corn)
  • Macapuno (silky coconut)
  • Kaong (sweet palm fruit)
  • Sago (pearls similar to boba)
  • Ube (purple yam)
  • Leche flan
  • Ice cream
  • Evaporated milk/Condensed Milk

Yes especially now its already summer.

I just hate monggos....I do not know why. Hahaha. But purple yam is the best.....
So far, the best halo-halo I've tasted here in Tacloban City is at Samsam's. Very delicious.

Didnt try halo-halo in samsams yet.. but planning to soon...
