On Saturday we ran the Top 50 users who tagged everything under the sun as 'Introduceyourself', thereby spamming up and abusing the tag and discouraging legitimate users.
Every 7 days we'll run the same query (modified to focus on those with 10 or more uses rather than just the top 50). Ideally, no name should appear in multiple queries.
In the coming weeks, this process will become automated in terms of pulling numbers and posting messages.
Update
Since the first query was run we have commented in one post of each offender account with this image:
Since then, the response has been very encouraging.
Six of the accounts responded to the comment. Out of those, one account, @otisjirychannel, turned out to be belonging to a popular YouTuber/voice actor trying his hand at Steemit. He was misinformed regarding tag use and the issue has since been resolved.
If anyone is aware of Steemit "guides" that advise new users to commit tag abuse, flag that shit to death!
Conclusion
We are very pleased with the results so far.
This project is being run in respectful collaboration with other anti-abuse initiatives. That being said, all accounts are treated equally and we will hammer away at all instances of Introduceyourself tag abuse until the query comes out empty.
Just like cleaning a gun -- wipe that shit until no carbon remains.

Here's a good post from the @steemcleaners about tags: https://steemit.com/steemcleaners/@steemcleaners/the-game-of-tags If there's anything it doesn't cover just ask.

Thank you. I didn't know that about introduceyourself tag. I thought you use it every time when you are trying to introduce something different about yourself. And then this Robin Good nailed me with the flag. Flagging itself wasn't so bad. So I lost a couple of cents. Not a big deal. But he said that the post that I spent time and efforts is spam. That was frustrating. Yet, well, life is tough and then you die. :)

There's a lot of confusion about some tags. A lot of people reasoned the same as you and kept using it for everything about themselves. It's use is actually interesting as it changed over time. When Steemit first launched many users didn't start off with an introduction post and instead would post one after they already got a following. Now, its encouraged to make the initial post an introduction. Because the initial post is so important the use of the tag is heavily moderated.
