Tags: A complete waste of time when greedy fuckwits are taking the piss

One of the downsides of the new tokens and front-ends is that as usual, greed raises its ugly head. People like @patrickulrich provide a Sports front end called www.sportstalksocial.com and what happens? A load of greedy fuckwits turn up and add the #sportstalk tag to a load of old posts which were unrelated and snaffled a load of tokens which are now on Steem-engine.

I just set a new account to start a Leeds United blog but logging in find about half the posts unrelated to sport at all. Many of them @steemhunt posts for some reason, flags were issued.

How fucking pathetic. What a cesspool of greed this blockchain is, and what a waste of time tags are when everyone is just tagging everything with #sportstalk #palnet #spt #sct and nothing to do with the subject matter they are posting about.

Content discovery just died a death. Isn't tag-abuse a @steemcleaners issue? I am sure I have seen many people get flagged for abusing the #introduceyourself tag, let's hope this can be sorted, and until it can. I will be busy flagging.

Gimme a break, this platform had shit for content discovery from the get go. I used to post original content and buy Steem, look at my rep now. The real problems on this platform aren't being recognized, let alone dealt with. Now there is palnet, but the troll is already hard at work invading that also. To fix the real problems we need to go after whoever controls the code because they aren't listening to their customers. Have a good one, cheers!

This really pisses me off. Another great idea getting dragged down by a few idiots trying to take what they can and instead devaluing the whole project. A lot like some of the original users on STEEM. Destroying progress with their greed and stupidity.

I've found the 9 people who have done it by going back to the start of the tag. I will be flagging them going forward and will publish their names for other to see who they are as well. Hopefully the sportstalk team can make a fix to cut them out as the original idea is brilliant and one I was excited about. At least we have identified the bug early in the tribes project so that it can be tightened up for future projects.

While this is bad, it was a good thing this exploit was done now before this Scot site idea got bigger.
Now a way to overcome this abuse is needed.
I'm glad I wasn't the only one who thought the same as the tag were getting abused...

This is true. It's the best time to see these exploits and strengthen the system with these early projects. After a few we should see something closer to the finished project that people can get a complete and secure package to launch their own STEEM based community.

I still hate the attitude of these people who are intentionally holding us back from growing the chain. They have no long term vision at all and this is while it is being built. There is a reason that we have slipped into #70 over the past couple of years and this is a big part of it.

I hope so too, as you say, it's perhaps a good thing that these early pioneering projects find these problems during practical use but it doesn't make abuse any less palatable.
OK, back to the Leeds blog. I can't fix the issue at hand but I can whinge and call people out.....and I can support the project with Peacocks.
Marching on Together....as they say at Leeds ;-)

There is always a way to fix these issues even if it requires a new token. Hopefully they get a solution soon and we can start enjoying the project. Hurling is my main interest but need more Irish people as it's a niche sport.

A bit like Leeds united. Small support......

that's why the system needs to be set that way where not even one individual can exploit nor abuse it... I'm sick of trusting people, this whole thing is a mess since someone believed people will eventually end up understanding how it'll end up if continue to milk the system

I get where you are coming from.

palnet.io don't have any rules with regards to what content you can add the palnet tag to.

As the front-ends become more niche though - splinterlands and sportstalk, I would hope that those using those tags are producing related content.

So, are you flagging from an alt with vested sport tokens, or from your main? (and thus blowing out your Steem VP)

Maybe Patrick will create a 'noSPORTS4u' account and police the content?

No, I know palnet don't. @aggroed said so when they launched as a showcase but now we have Sports Talk and people investing money to set up these niche community front ends then I think this issue is going to become more important. It screws up the community front end and is hardly going to encourage users if they log onto a needlework site for instance and find a load of posts about bitcoin prices for instance.

I hope it can be sorted and policed because people like Patrick are spending real money and a lot of time on stuff like this. The whole blockchain has called out for communities and have always placed a lot of faith in them as the reason Steem is and will be a success and when we get niche communities, its just a whole mess as there is now no longer a way to differentiate between content!

LOL, I just got grumpy and threw them out from this account lol.....I'm not hiding anything :-) I have no Sports tokens. I was going to buy some to use the site but I'm not buying them from greedy robbers

The thing is, the posts will need to be voted by accounts with vested sports token to reach high in any hot/trending listings, will they not?

So if the scammers aren't voted, they wont be earning much of the 'local' tokens, unless they stake and self-vote?

If, like dtube, one could vote on sportstalk (up and down) without affecting Steem/PAL SP, then you could load up on SPORTS and make sure scammers aren't taking anyway :)

Might need to gather some moderators and police the content for a while. Teach people how it's going to work. hard to run the place as a single person once they get past the tokens issue.

Right, Palnet is meant to be a front end, and posts won't show up on the site without the tag. That one at least makes sense.

Steemhunt posts going to Sportstalk, not so much...

Yeah I'm not OK with that, but I guess it's up to the boss on how he wants to deal with that.

Sad to see man!

There's always that small percentage of Narcassitic Fuck Wombles who do not care what damage they do, as long as they a little extra.

I do not know much about #sportstalk as I am a rare guy who doesnt watch sports (Okay, I am an abomination) but it's just sad to see another good thing abused here on SteemIt.
It's difficult to find good quality content between the whales and abuses. One of the reasons why I stopped writing in-depth posts :/

Hopefully, the Fuck Wombles see the error in their ways before they completely total SteemIt.

I think you slept badly today. Before flagging you need to warn. From now, you can’t even talk about price sporttalk?

I don't 'need' to do anything! You posted a steemhunt post with a sporttalk tag.....If I want to flag, I will. As you have the right to flag if you wish.

We're luckly this type of abuse was found this early on. Imagine the damage if this attack was done when the SCOT idea got more popular...
