9JA GIST: tailors and their disappointment.

Today is another interesting episode that I will be discussing about my beloved naija. This time the topic of discussion will be centered around our "TAILORS".

Clothing is as old as man himself. The Bible made us to understand that the first clothes ever made was during the time of Adam of Eve and it was made by the best designer GOD. Since that time till now, clothes has become one of the basic necessities of mankind alongside with food and shelter. Sometimes, I wonder how life would have been if Adam and eve had not eaten d fruit, who knows how my pic would have been on steemit, the day I will "introduce myself" Probably naked, with a steemit logo 😛😝

Man has always required the services of a tailor but our indigenous tailor in Nigeria has failed times without number, to utilize this golden opportunity effectively and efficiently because of there poor attitude to the work. Most people now find it hard to patronize tailors because they find it difficult to keep to there words. 

These are some images I know every Nigerians that has a tailor, will be able to relate with:

• Nigeria tailors find it very difficult keeping to time and it has made many people stick to ready-made clothes instead of taking there clothes to a tailor to sew the desired outfit they want.

• There is no time you will go a tailors shop and find him less busy. But each time you demand for your clothes, it is never ready. 

• "Excuses" are tailors second name. They always have something to say each time you ask for your clothes. Some go to the extent of not Even picking your calls. 

• Nigeria tailors believe they can sew everything. Whether they are good at it or not, they will still insist they have done that exact style for another customer before and end up ruin your materials .

Let me share a bit of my experience with my tailor during my grandpa's burial. 

Sometime last year, around February, I lost my Grand PA. In Rivers state , is actually a very big celebration if someone live for many years. We call it "celebration of Life"
The date for the burial was in 2weeks time and as the Grand children, they gave us our own material to sew our clothes. 

I took my material to my Tailor. This guy has been my tailor for years now without any serious problem. It wasn't quite Long I started hearing rumors that my tailor have started taking marijuana (ughbo) but because of good will and the trust I've for him, I found it difficult to go to another tailor. 

I gave him the material for the burial. I actually noticed something was wrong when he was taking my measurement. Each time I try to explain the style I wanted to him, he kept telling me, he understands. So, i didnt bother explaining again since this is not the first time he's sewing for me. As usual, he told me to come the following week for the clothes that it will be ready. i paid him full that same day. " **i know wan hear say, i come for my clothes and e never ready** " 

I got there the following week for the clothes. 

The tailor saw me and was like: **"Wednesday don reach now now?? This month they run oh!!! "**

I nearly ran Mad.. That Friday was for the wake keeping and the *Yeye tailor neva even open my material to cut sef...*

He started apologising and telling me unnecessary excuse and promised me that unfailingly the next day, my clothes will be ready! I decided to give him a benefit of doubt but I refused to leave his shop until I was sure he has started sewing it already. 

I got there the next day and saw my clothes ready, I was glad and gave him a thumbs-up for not disappointing me. But something told me to test d clothes before I leave. " **Na there our Second World War start** ".. 

**For the trousers to enter my waist successfully, trousers wey dey use rope oh!!! Know be say na belt.. na by divine intervention**

 I ordered for mirror to look at the trouser. One leg was pencil, the other leg was boot cut.. *Na there our quarrel start* ... 

I now demanded for the shirt. 

**As I say make i open the shirt to wear, My heart fly leave my body...**  I think say na raincoat!! The tailor could see anger all over my face.. The apprentice been so smart, started adjusting the clothes on my body. 

**The Yeye tailor, they one corner they tell me say "the clothes fit me na, you fit manage am go the burial come back, after all na just few hours, d burial don finish** " 

I couldn't hold it any longer, I had to demand back for my money. That was what led to our *World War II.* Had to call some of my friends within the neighborhood, we succeeded in ceasing his machine, so I could get my refund back. 

I had to go to my grandpa's burial without the family clothes. That's me, looking like one Judas Iscariot in the midst of my brothers and cousins **For my own grand papa burial**. 

Despite all this disappointment from tailors, we are still awarded one of the best designers in Africa that sews breath taking outfits but is not as easy identifying them.
