Stay safe! Earthquakes are such a weird thing to be in. In September 2015, I was in 8.3 magnitude earthquake in Concon, Chile. I'm from Finland and I was traveling there at the time.
Chile is a real hotspot for earthquakes and such strong earthquakes are actually pretty common there. This one came early evening when it started to become dark. It feels like the whole Earth is wobbling under you.
There's not a lot of places to go. A lot of people lost their homes, many of them poor, likely not able to rebuild at least not for a long time. I will never forget that night. The fact that I barely can communicate in Spanish made it extra weird for me.
Keep us posted, Karen! Hopefully the earthquake didn't disturb that volcano too much and hope it stays calm. Take care and stay safe.
Aww that’s so sad. I’m really glad my family is safe. Praying for all the others.
