Happy Thursday Stemit.

Today we're looking at the next 9 Major Arcana cards of the Game of Thrones deck.
The first 5 are shown here.

Hierophant, Lovers, and The Chariot

Varys the Spider is the Hierophant.
This makes sense in that he is a powerful figure that dwells outside the realm of material or earthly desires.
He is always trying to set things up for the greater good.

The Lovers are Jon Snow and Ygritte.
I personally would have went with Jaime and Cersei Lannister for this one, considering all they had to sacrifice for their love, but Jon and Ygritte works too.
I can't see this card without thinking of how this love was betrayed though...

The Chariot shows the moment the Dothraki decided to join Daenerys and cross the narrow sea... something Dothraki had never done.
It definitely shows commitment and focus on a single goal while blazing new ground and challenging one's own beliefs.
Well done.

Strength, The Hermit, and The Wheel of Fortune

I can't think of a better way to show Strength than Brienne of Tarth.
She is a master of her emotions and self-discipline. In times of need, it might be handy to call of the Strength of Brienne of Tarth.

Bran is The hermit, which makes sense as well. The spiritual wisdom and solitude that come with The Hermit are what Bran is all about.
This card can also show an evolution of control, like Bran learning to be a warg, and then the ultimate warg.
Within ourselves, we can re-write what is possible.

The Wheel of Fortune is pretty straightforward. This is the wheel that shows during the intro of the show.
It hints at astrology, and shows fate, cycles, and changes of fortune.

Justice, The Hanged Man, and Death

Eddard Stark is the epitome of Justice. He doesn't let emotions cloud his judgement, and he might be the fairest, most honorable man in the world.
By channeling Eddard Stark, you would make a fair, lawful decision.

The Bolton house sigil, 'The Flayed Man' is the Hanged Man.
This is pretty intense, but if you can get past the gore, it does show a stripping down of self(and skin) that gets to some core truth.
I probably would have chosen Bran in the basket on Hodor's back...

Arya shows up as Death. This is fair, since her character goes through quite a few fundamental changes, she leaves everything behind to make those changes, and she also serves the God of Death.
The Hound dying at the bottom of a cliff, with the priest guy coming into the picture from the horizon... that's what I would have picked.

Let me know what you think, and any different ideas of how you would have done it.

Peace and long life, Steemit:)

Beautiful! Yes I would have gone with your choice of lovers as well!

Interesting twists to the cards based on the characters' narratives. I agree with you about the betrayed feeling around Ygritte and Jon. That instantly saddened my heart.

So sad.
Ygritte really got the shitty end of that deal.

I'll admit I cried. lol

He finally picks one and splat. Too close to home for this cat.

I am enjoying your Game of Thrones readings A LOT. I have not had a chance to have this deck in my hand yet. What an amazing way to connect with your audience.

The Lannister Twins for the Lovers card would have been a lot more Qabalistically appropriate for the Mystery/Arcana of that card.

I also feel that they sacrificed more than anyone else for their love. Nothing else mattered to them... perfect Lovers.

I agree with this soooo much!
