New Computer - Transition Expectations and Delays

in taskmanager •  7 years ago

I didn't really need a computer upgrade, my "old" system had an AMD FX quad core with 12 gb of ram and a 750 TI OC GDDR5 2 GB card in it. The problem is my current living situation leaves me with one plug for all my devices, I had to "upgrade" to something that uses less watts and amps.

I ended up with a Dell AIO, the CPU is better being a 6th gen i7 from Intel, the ram is the same at 12 GB, I have 2x the space on the OS solid state drive, but the graphics are not near as good as my previous system. This thing though uses less than 1/4 the power of my previous unit.

Effects of the Upgrade

Instead of posting a warning of possible delays in each community, I decided it would be easier to keep it all in one post. Delays will be minimal during the transition but just in case here's the heads up. The transition should only take a couple days.

@taskmanager - Vote bot system should continue to work just fine, possible delays in adding new users to the votebot.

@upfundme - Thanks to @madstacks, the #upfundme community should function normally.

@prizeportal - The next wave of prizes will be delayed until the transition is over.

@tmholdings - Hopefully the Steemit Newbies Steembasicincome Sponsorship Program will continue as normal, possible delays in posting with steemautos pending posts under maintenance.

So what happens to the power hog?

I am going to sell it to my good buddy @bidnat for STEEM! There is nothing wrong with the system and he could make good use of it. It is still powerful enough for most games on higher settings. I am going to let him take it and make payments so he can use #upfundme to help pay for it.

This is a very valuable post!!! thank you for sharing ,,,
I am upvoting you............

upfund.me? How much?

What do you mean? Do you want to join up?

no I mean where did this web app come from, are you the one who set it up and if so how much do you want for the domain and everything with it. But upon reflection I will likely stick with the original plan of completing my own web app for upfundme

Thank you for the update TM, funny you mention power consumption, I currently use a alienware i7, 16gb with gtx 1060, its a really fast laptop - but had not even considered power consumption - one day i will be moving into a motorhome and be more reliant on solar sometimes so Il probably do the same:)

That would honestly be a very good power to performance ratio for a solar setup. For that I'd want a laptop or small AIO.

The power man. Wow, I use a 2017 macbook pro(no, not the maxed out model, second cheapest model bought while it was on sale during black friday). I've always wanted an Alienware but need a few key software that are only available on macs.
