Hello, foodies!
Today i would like to share one of our street food experience. Maybe if you have already come to Indonesia, you have ever tried gado-gado. But the tastiest gado-gado is usually on the street, not sold in the restaurant.
This gado-gado stall where we ate was located on Senopati Street, South Jakarta. It was in front of the furniture store next to the Harvest.
Fortunately, we came there on time, 12.30 pm. The gado-gado seller had just opened the stall.
He had many customers, we always see him make the peanut paste. And Pak Edi (the seller's name) always work diligently, efficient and he was also nice. He only had some chairs around his stall.
We ordered our gado-gado with rice, we asked him to gave 3 chillies for our peanut paste. Then he prepared it well. The steps were simple, he put the chillies and also lime water, then put the peanut and brown sugar, also javanese asem water. Then he mixed them together into the peanut paste. Last was put the boiled vegetables on it. Also he prepared the rice on the plates then put the vegetables with peanut paste. Last thing was putting the fried onion on the top.
These were our orders
Mom ordered the gado-gado with rice, me also. But mine had the boiled egg. Like usually the vegetables tasted fresh, the peanut paste tasted savory, spicy and a bit sweet. Here he also gave the free drink (a glass of warm water) and of course fried chips.
Pak Edi always serves the best gado-gado!
And the price, for our food altogether, it was only 27,000 IDR (mom's was 12k, while mine was 15k) or only around 1.93 USD.
We will come again here soon and also invite you to try the most delicious gado-gado on the street
