It’s been a while since the Cronut boom, but back in 2013-2014 it was normal to see long lines surrounding the Dominique Ansel Bakery in NYC. That’s why back in September 2018 we went to pay a visit to this place.
We were in a rush because we had timed tickets to the color factory in NYC and that exhibit was just a few blocks away. So we deviated a bit and went for an original cronut.
A Cronut is a mix between a croissant and a donut. You take the croissant dough, shape it and fry it like a donut. Back in the hype days you need to wake up early and you had to form in line for hours hoping you get your cronut but constantly the shop ran out of them by 9 am. It’s kind of crazy but it is a normal thing in NYC for a specific craving to suddenly become famous and to everyone want a little bite of it.
We didn’t knew if it was late for a cronut (it was around noon) but we went anyway.
When we arrived there was 3 or 4 people in line and there were a lot of pastries, but we couldn’t see the cronut. Finally it was our turn and we asked for it and the girl in the counter said yes. We were happy even though it was a little pricey for a pastry, $6 usd a piece but it could be worse. They give it to you in a nice yellow box specially made for the cronut.
We also asked for an almond croissant it was good but it was delivered in a paper bag. That make me felt less special but I devoured it anyway.
Sorry if we could take more pictures but we were in a rush. After getting our pastries we head out immediately and eat on the go.
All our pictures were taken by us with our phones and you might find them in our blog, facebook or instagram feed.
Saludos!!!
