This small diner isn't one that you would notice unless you're looking out for soft shell crab to enjoy. And since in Saigon, we're close to the Mekong River, having fresh seafood and vegetables is a MUST. Quan 94 is located on 84 Dinh Tien Hoang Street, about 5 mins taxi ride from my office. A good considerable place to have lunch if we're craving for seafood; particularly crab meat.
The outside of the shop where it is the walkway for pedestrian is lined up with trays of crabs; all ready to cook based on the orders that come in. Of course, it is well protected by the motorbikes that is parked right in front of the diner. There are also plenty of Grab Bike drivers waiting to pick up orders as well.
There is only 1 female cook behind the stove to prepare the orders while others are in charge of table service. There is 1 male cook outside who fries the crab meat as it comes. The diner has 2 floors since most shops are small in size and can only fit no more than 20 people. We opt to sit upstairs where there is air-condition; typical Asians after all it's really hot & humid outside.
Everything on the menu is with crab; be it fried with noodles or rice or just on it's own. Looking at the price and the portion of the crab meat in each serving, I would say that the price is just right.
We ordered 2 plates of noodles with crab meat, crab meat spring roll, deep fried soft shell crabs and 1 plate of fried rice with crab meat. Side dishes like herb plants, lettuce and rice noodles were provided too. Absolutely a fulfilling meal and the bill came to VND1,100,000 only for 6 of us = USD47.35 = MYR 198.38. Maybe a bit high for a normal working lunch then again, when is it often for us to enjoy such meal.
Good company and good food = great day
