Not too impressed with ChangeX Beer

During the World Cup last year I was looking for local bars or pubs to watch the games. My city in Taiwan doesn't have an awful lot of choice. Finally I found one that says they sell a lot of craft beers and overseas imports.

I didn't get round to go during the World Cup, but finally made it some time afterwards. Its called ChangeX Beer. When I arrived, I wasn't sure if I found the correct place as the outside didn't look like a pub and it was next to some residential buildings. And when I left I forgot to take a photo. Even the inside doesn't look very much like a pub or a bar which is what it 'sells' itself as. It has a lot of normal dining tables and chairs likes these and looks more like a restaurant. The rest of the 'bar' looks like this as well. I didn't take any photos as there were other people seated there.

Decor aside, there was a wide range of beers on the tap. There were all listed on the blackboard menu above the counter. They told you the characteristics of each beer, the brewery and country, and the alcohol content etc.

The range of choice was very good, but as a beer drinker I wasn't too impressed with how they sold the beer. It was either a 330ml glass, or 1 litre which was served in 2 x 500ml glasses. There's not a lot in a 300ml glass for a beer drinker and 1 liter was a bit too much. I asked if I could order a 1 liter and have two different beers in each of the 500ml glass so I could try the different ones. They were adamant they couldn't do that. I think it was more of they wouldn't rather they couldn't do it. Needless to say I wasn't too impressed.

In the end I ordered a beer flight which was on special offer. That consisted of 4 x 330ml glass and you could order any beer you want! I also ordered a plate of salami to nibble on. It cost over USD7, but when they served it, I was so taken back by the portion. That's all there is on the plate. Just a few slices. That is so shocking!!!

By this time, my mood had gone and I wasn't very interested to take any more photos of the place. That's why I only have 4 of my own photos of ChangeX Beer. Place aside, the beer selection was good and if you are ok with drinking smaller glasses of beer, ChangeX Beer isn't a bad place to come and hang out with friends. Next time I come here I know what to expect now, so hopefully it will be a better experience.
