The Edisford Bridge Inn - A Tasteem Review

The Edisford Bridge Inn was recommended to us by friends, and that was the reason for our visit.

There are lots of eating places in a 20-mile radius but I have given up on using TripAdvisor in attempts to find a gem.

The building is a mid to late 18th-century coach house that likely acted as overstay for the travellers of those days as well as a place to eat.

We struggled to park though there is a decent sized car park around the back (not photographed) and squeezed between an Audi and a BMW taking up far too much space.

Try getting in your car without marking it now matey!

Inside was not exactly busy and we were asked if we would prefer the bar or the restaurant.

IMG_7046.jpg

It’s quite a normal question and we always choose the restaurant.

I looked at the menu’s prices and considered them middle of the road for a place of this stature.

IMG_7050.jpg

There were a few vegetarian offerings on offer, more so than usual.

IMG_7052.jpg

I ordered the Cheese and Onion at £11.95 and @bingbabe the Lamb Chops at £13.95 on the Specials section of the menu.

IMG_7048.jpg

The service at The Edisford Bridge was a little slow and we were both getting impatient after 30 minutes of waiting.

The staff did not seem to be taxed so why the long wait?

IMG_7055.jpg

Our food suddenly arrived and I had high hopes. The Cheese and Onion Pie was large, and I felt this pub come restaurant was a good place for the big eater types.

IMG_7056.jpg

@bingbabe had the same opinion. Her Lamb Chops were plentiful and looked decent but how many?

It's not a bad thing and certainly nothing to complain about, more something to note for other diners.

IMG_7057.jpg

I took a close-ups of the food on this occasion. Those chops did look really good and the pie was oozing cheese from the sides.

I can only comment on the pie for this review as @bingbabe did not offer me her chops.

I will suggest in the future what we ‘swap meals for five minutes’ as to sample each other’s food.

The taste was a little different than usual with more Onion in evidence. Though it looked remarkably ‘Cheesy,' I could see bits of Onion poking out.

IMG_7061.jpg

While this is not a bad thing it made for a different experience than the usual Cheese and Onion pie style and not a bad one.

IMG_7062.jpg

I was far too full to try any of these offerings.

As far as value goes, this restaurant ticks my boxes. You get huge portions for your money and that does make it good in terms of food content vs wallet emptying.

IMG_7063.jpg

The atmosphere is good with ambient music, old world surroundings, and friendly hosts.

f I was to criticize it would be the speed of service and little else.

IMG_7060.jpg

£30 for two people with drinks is decent, especially for the amount of food on offer.

Make sure you are hungry before visiting The Edisford Bridge Inn, and I mean starving!

The food looks pretty darn good. I think I would have went with the burger, but a cheese and onion pie does sound pretty good. What kind of cheese do they use in it? Is that guy just sitting on a stool? I don't think I could handle that. I need something to lean back against. Especially with all of that food!

Bigger portions! but not as big as US ones... :)

Is that guy just sitting on a stool?

He could be the local pisshead, there's always one.. with so much beer in him he no longer cares.

Yeah, there is one in every town isn't there? I don't know, this place might give the US a run for it's money. Then again this place is just a half hour down the express way from me: http://www.tonysi75restaurant.com/videos.html

It definitely looks like the kind of place to visit after a very big hike, when you're ravenous. Not sure about the main courses, but the pudding menu looks amazing!

There's was little room for anything else, big portions is what this place is all about. Quite rare today.

IT's great to see you getting involved with tasteem man. This place seems particluarly inviting to me but this may have at least something to do with the fact that I have lived in Asia for such a long time. Nice writeup! I would definitely visit that place if it weren't 7,000 km from me!

I eat out a lot so it makes sense to write these up. Where do you originate from? it's not the far east for sure.. I can tell by your writing style.

Im from USA but I have lived in Asia since the turn of the millennium. i miss western dining standards but I don't miss their prices (although 30 pounds for 2 people is quite fair)

That pie looks pretty tasty! And, once again, I am reading reviews of food at the end of the day while hungry.

Great post. The photos were taken nicely. I enjoyed your review. Straightforward and good quality content. Mmm... Cheesy onion pie... 😋😋😋

hey mate! the chop looks tempting. yummy!

I wish I could have had a taste, I didn't get the chance on this occasion!

Drats you opted for the beans and not the mushy peas! Lol. I have yet to see proper mushy peas! I think I would have went for the beans as well.

You wont see that 'orrible green slime on my plate!
