Bare minimum creating the prime maximum taste (Han Wa Dam)

We don't deny our love for steak and barbeque in Korea, especially when its good beef we're having. In one of the hippest areas in Korea, a restaurant named as Han Wa Dam proudly presents premium beef raised in Korean called hanwoo cooked on iron pans.

Han Wa Dam, a minimally designed location. From the outside, it can be easily mistaken for nothing but a concrete building if not for the name sign that lights up the building that looks abandoned.

Walk in to a restaurant without any flair or extra aesthetics added. Just a blank concrete wall and ceiling with aluminum ventilation running by. Even the lights are lit to the least possible. The most important part of the interior is the "Corkage Free" acrylic writing on the wall. Must be one of their competitive advantage over others.

My initial thoughts during the visit was primarily for the corkage free advantage of being able to drink unlimited wine without having to pay go broke on the extra charge for drinking their house wine. Not much thought was given to their menu, as how good can good beef taste? To my surprise, their beef reigned supreme with the absolute premiumness in quality and the marbling making the meat extra soft and juicy.

Just like their shop, to the bare minimum on all ends. Even their meat is served on a clean black plate with pink tissue to soak up the blood from the meat. Entirely serving 'Hanwoo' which is a breed of cattle native to Korea. Han Wa Dam's special method of making their meat so tender is not only by procuring top quality Hanwoo from its designated supplier but also by aging the meat at 1.2degrees celsius for 21 days.

Making sure to heighten the taste of the beef to the sheer maximum, all else if kept at the bare minimum. Except for the side dish essentials such as leek salad, and marinated vegetables to go with the beef, their side dishes unlike a general Korean restaurant is practically non-existant. Also they recommend Himalayan rock salt and wasabi to be dipped with the cooked beef.

I totally blanked on taking pictures of the actual result, as the sizzling meat encapsulated my mind solely on eating. Here are the result of the cooked meat from other websites.

The meat is not cheap, but investing in good meat, and saving on alchohol by bringing over your own bottle of wine from home is totally worth the price of dinner. Make use of the Corkage Free advantage!
