A new update has arrived on tasteem.io. From now on, whenever you login / write a post / write a comment / share on facebook or twitter through tasteem.io, we’re adding Tasteem points to your accounts. Also, you will earn a rank based on the points you earned the week before. The great thing about getting higher ranks is that you will be getting larger tasteem upvotes whenever you write a restaurant review on tasteem.
Activities you can earn Tasteem points from (Brackets show you the limit of points earned for a single day.)

What this new point system means
Steem blockchain values all the activities the users make on the blockchain and Steemit is built to reward the activities through the upvote system. This is what incentivizes users to actively participate within the ecosystem. We also thought we could incentivize Tasteemers with Tasteem points so they can be motivated to stay on our platform and have a little entertainment with this new feature.
What’s upcoming..
Our team is currently discussing point usage features. There are some great examples out there already, Partiko, another great dApp, lets users use their points to get its upvotes. Steemhunt, on the other hand, converts tokens for its users so they can utilize them in the future. For now, every option is open for us, and we will find the best way that benefits the whole community.
Yes, the price. We admit it’s really a hard time for all of us now in crypto world, both inside and outside of Steem community. But why not say it’s a bonus extension deal from the last Black Friday? At least we are still here, very alive. We wish, from all our hearts, we smile at the end of this moment, and also, hope this new update brings a bit of pep to the community. Thank you!
I love you so much for this update. Looks fair and so much fun. Good idea.

Does this replace the current system or are the point a bonus to it? This is a confusing message to me.
Is the current ranking system with the STEEM prizes for the top three finishers also being replaced?

Currently, the updated system will coexist with the original contest rewards. However, we are considering eliminating the rewards given to the top 10, and if that happens contests will not have much significance as they used to.
