Hello, tasteemers!

Welcome to the 11th edition of Kim's Taste! I am very happy with the results of this series; not because of the inherent rewards, but because of the positive feedback from fellow tasteemers. This keeps me going and continue to strive for an excellent review.

This time, it's about an eat-all-you-can restaurant that serves Filipino dishes. As a Filipino, I'm proud to share our cuisines even if Filipino dishes are underrated and least liked in the selection of cuisines from all over the world.

Before the review proper, I will have to remind everyone that this is my personal account of my experience in a certain restaurant, cafe, dessert place, or any food stall that I happened to visit.

Remember: If you happen to be in one of the restaurants in my review, we might have different preferences, as well as experiences, so our ratings might not be exactly the same.

This review is about Chef Panyang, an eat-all-you-can place in Bantayan Island.

CHEF PANYANG
Unlimited Filipino Dishes at a Very Affordable Price

IMG20180428193903.jpg

If you're a budget traveller like me, I'm sure that finding a good place to dine at a very affordable price is a must. After all, we wanted to maximize our experience in a certain place so we have a find a restaurant where we can have our full without shedding much of our travel allowance.

When we went to Bantayan Island with my friends, we decided find a good place to eat during the first night of our stay in the island. One of our friends suggested that we would go to Poblacion or the town center where most of the restaurants are located. That's where we decided to eat at Chef Panyang in MJ Square.

IMG20180428191711.jpg

Chef Panyang is located in MJ Square, A. Batobalonos St., Poblacion, Santa Fe, Bantayan Island, Cebu, Philippines. MJ Square is actually a place where a series of restaurants and bars are located. It's also near to most of the resorts in Santa Fe, Bantayan Island.

Upon reaching the place, I immediately noticed the lively atmosphere which was a strong contrast to the laid back and rural feel of the island. There were a lot of people going in and out of the place. We rented a bike as our mode of transportation, so we immediately parked our bike to choose a restaurant where we could eat.

The place was reminiscent of a barrio fiesta where there are a lot of activities going on. It was really a feast to the eyes. Hopping from one restaurant to another, we noticed that most of the restaurants were too expensive and beyond our allocated budget for food.

The staffs would give you the utensils and you'll just line up to get the food of your choice. Since it's in a fiesta set up, common fiesta dishes are always abundant. Adobo and afritada are present. Seafood dishes are also available.

IMG20180428191246.jpg

Their seafood dishes are a must try, but some are dishes are tasteless or bland. It might be because they're putting quantity over quality. Since it's unlimited, they have to cook in bulk so it might be that the proper proportions of spices was not achieved. Anyway, I'm not here to justify anything about their food. This is just my deduction on why some of their food are bland.

There are a lot of varied reviews regarding the restaurant, so this is just a personal account of my experience. Negative comments are also present, but based on the number of people dining at Chef Panyang when we were there, I can say it's still an in demand restaurant.

I guess that's all for my review. Please don't hesitate to comment anything that you want to express! Also, thank you in advance for showing some love by upvoting this post!
