Education: steemit as a Classroom?

The more time I spend exploring the posts on Steemit, I am convinced that what we are creating is what visionaries almost a decade ago predicted for future educational models. Is it possible that steemit could fill gaps in a person's education? Could steemit provide context to topics? Is it helping to shape our ideas? Will it supplement or extend the traditional classroom model? By its very nature, the culture of steemit is a pretty inclusive one. The platform, at least in its beta form, provides a supportive, safe environment that allows learners to explore and learn at their own pace. What do you think about the plausibility of steemit as an educational platform?
This Youtube video outlines many of the tenants that educational visionaries expound

At first the only issue I could see with relying on steemit as a substitute or supplemental form of traditional education is the venerability of some of the posts. After a bit of thought I realized that the built in validity of the platform comes from the amount of upvotes, comments and basic common sense. Search-ability is an issue that I feel would need to be addressed moving forward as it is very difficult to find specific content once it has left the current feed.
