every now and then some people come to the office to become teachers in the academy I work. This is the process:
- filing out a from
- coming into the office
- being interviewed
Well, I leave in a country where English is a second language and I need skilled ESL teachers. what are my questions? here you go:
tell me about your teaching experience.
where did you learn English yourself?
when do you know that you have had a good day
some questions are related to the person's knowledge while some others are designed to know about the person's beliefs towards teaching... I can see them moving on their chairs, feeling uncomfortable, looking at me as if I am torturing them. Alright! I don't want to bother people but how am I supposed to employ someone who is not fluent or accurate enough....how am I supposed to recruit a person whose knowledge is not enough even in her own language.
Then I see the sadness in their eyes and I wish that I can do something for them...
That is really bad!
to be continued...
