Hello, all! Me, in a nutshell: special education teacher, unicyclist, ukulele player, puzzle collector, standup comic, cryptocurrency newbie

Hi, everyone. I'm brand-new to Steemit and enjoying it so far. I'm so new that I haven't figured out how to give my literal 2¢ to the posts I like, but I'll get there.

I've been a reading- and math-specialist for 25 years, working both privately (as a tutor) and in various NYC schools. I love teaching, especially younger students, and seem to have a natural affinity for it. Probably that's the standup comic part of me. If I can figure out how to get more views on Steemit or if I have a few followers interested in education, I'll be happy to post some thoughts and observations about working with students who have certain challenges.

I bought my first unicycle with the last of my bar mitzvah money and have been riding almost daily ever since. It's a great way to strengthen your core and legs. I've even been to a few unicycle conventions and races. Yes, they have conventions and races!

I took cello lessons from age 6-21 but always wanted to play something I could sing along to, so I taught myself guitar back in 1987 and have stuck with it on and off since then. Three years ago, I bought a ukulele and fell in love with that instrument, and I've gotten to the point that I always take it on vacation with me. I love singing, and its small size makes it a perfect fit.

I enjoy wooden and metal puzzles (especially those by Wil Strijbos, Rocky Chiaro, Stewart Coffin, and Charles Perry); I have about 100 in total. The funny thing is that I'm not especially good at solving them! I just really admire their craftsmanship and have used them for many years with my students.

I started doing standup about 5 years ago. My jokes are quirky and often scatological. There's nothing like the sound of 200 people laughing with you.

Finally, I'll mention that I'm getting into cryptocurrencies and would love to learn more. Point me in the right direction!
