Yes it's messy. Yes, it's sometimes painful and annoying and frustrating. But it's the lifeblood of our nation, and we are very lucky to have it.
All over the world, many people look at at democracies like Australia in envy. Some people fight desperate battles to attain something close to what we take for granted.
Some settle for the smallest of incremental change, hoping that in their child's lifetime leaders and governments will be chosen by the people and will have to prove themselves again, and again, to remain in the job.
Many Australians think our parliament and parliamentarians should stop arguing, and just get on with the job of governing for all of us. While this is no-doubt a worthy sentiment, for me it demonstrates just how much we take our democracy for granted.
When ideologies clash in other countries, often blood is shed. And more often than not, it's the blood of innocents. Here in Australia, someone hurls some 'unparliamentary language' across the chamber and their opponents on the other side return fire with similar comments. Or they guffaw. Or just ignore it.
Seriously.
Think about it. Really think about it.
How good is that?
We in Australia are privileged beyond measure. Well, most of us - without getting into the legal technicalities of Indigenous Australians never ceding their sovereignty and Australia being declared British territory illegally under International law of the day. Terra Nullius anyone?
So no. We are far from perfect in so many ways. But was it Churchill who said democracy is the worst system of government, except for all the rest?
Never a truer word was spoken.
And on this day, when Queensland goes to the polling booths, it's a good day to remember it.

Democracy is nothing more than mob rule, Anarchy is the only true way to have freedom.

Democracy does not mean "no bloodshed". The whole article was built on a premise that without democracy, there is only dictatorship and nothing will stop dirty totalitarian from taking stuff by power. Democracy is actually a really bad way how to run things from my perspective, because it naturally heads towards bigger and bigger totality. People are not equal and the "strength of vote" should reflect that. Building a system that fairly rewards the contributors is the problem that has to be solved before democracy can be replaced. And much more but that would be a really long comment:D…

People are not equal?
Care to explain?

Sure. It’s a biological fact that every human being has some pros and some cons. One is strong, the other can calculate well, the other excels at logical processes. Everyone is good at something else. There are also those that are above average at most of the things and there are also those that are biologically incompetent to contribute to any society they would live in...Thus said, people are not equal. Am I understood?

Sure.
Not sure why there would be different values to their votes though :)

Because everyone contributes differently to the system, therefore they shouldn’t have the same say in it (just like Steem, just in MUCH bigger scale). It is clear that most of the people are stupid (yet again one of the biological facts, even though I really am sad about it) yet they all have the same voting power. The parasites, the stupid, the contributors, the clever. In Czech Republic we suffer greatly. Our president is a joke, totalitarian/ dictatorship political parties have over 50% here. Why? Well, I’m pretty sure I already said it somewhere in the comment:P Basically we are being tought that democracy s the best way how to run society. Since I study Blockchains, I’m fuckin unconvinced anymore...

Well, I couldn't disagree more. How can people in society have anything but an equal say in how things work - unless, as you say, you are in a facist state.
But thanks for your comments 😊

Not at all. Is Steem (or any other Blockchain) fascism? Is anarchocapitalistic vision fascism? Is monarchy fascism?...I could continue, but I think this proves your statement wrong. The problem is that you always put democracy against dictatorship as I already said in the first comment.
That’s why I also said
As far as I was concerned this was discussion and I’m patiently waiting for your arguments:D I do not see myself as fascist…not at all…fascism does not equal “not same vote strength”. There is sooooo much more to it.
