"Cents" for "Sense": You Earn, I Learn! (1SBD transfer to most insightful comment)

It's a simple idea right? Every week or so I will post a new topic or question. If you are tech savvy, and patient enough to explain things to me, I will reward one user with a straight transfer of 1SBD. I'd also ask that you upvote my post to be eligible. That way if my idea works, I can keep the "cents for sense" posts going - I have a lot to learn! If it works well I will also up the rewards. I look at it a bit like the steemit version of buying someone a coffee so you can pick their brain.

Some background info

I don't have a tech background, but I have always been intrigued by tech, so I've watched a few netflix docos on things like binary code, algorithms and machine learning. I'm also excited enough about blockchain to have done some basic research on how it works before joining steemit. The most 'coding' I've done is using markdown to create steemit posts!

However, when I'm out and about in the 'real' world, I can casually throw terms like 'nodes' and 'smart contracts' into conversation if the topic of blockchain comes up. That , combined with the fact that I own crypto that isn't bitcoin, makes my friends think I'm an expert.

So in short: I'm a complete noob on steemit, but my friends and family thing I am some kind of tech genius.

Today's topic: The 'Rules' of the steem blockchain. What can and can't we do on steem?

I've read a little bit about 'rules' and 'hard forks' and 'soft forks', but I'm still a bit confused. Some explanations use actual code, and some are overly simplified. What are the rules of the steem blockchain and what do they actually mean in terms of what developers can create?

For example busy is built on the steem blockchain, so I'm guessing that means it follows the chain's rules? The busy interface doesn't seem that different from steem. It seems to be displayed differently, but the content is the same. (Please correct me if I'm wrong)

Is it possible for developers to create interfaces which have features more like other social media networks? Like creating polls. Or reacting with different emotions to posts? Or creating groups? Or is this not possible on the steem blockchain?

Thanks in advance!

Bec

I think your question must be answered by the programmer of blockchain especially the programmer at the steemit platform, because it is specific to the programming language on the blockchain and unfortunately there are no many programmer at the blockchain. But Let's wait for them to here.

Thanks for your comment. Can I see if I am understanding you correctly?

Do you mean that only the original developers can understand the programming language on the steem blockchain?

Does this mean that anyone can see the code, but not just anyone can understand it?

What i know about the blockchain, it is very close with programming language, if you want make decentralize application on the blockchain, for example on EOS platform we must understand about the programming language C++ to build application and every blockchain use different language programming include steemit, depending on the developer of team ( i don't know about the programming language on steemit).

I see, that's great information. Thankyou!

I'm also looking forward to this answer!

Thanks! I’m really hoping this works!

I am similar to you, Bec, I am absorbing information about blockchain to form my next career. I am now following you although I don't spend a lot of time on Steemit any more. That is the way my life is progressing.

Thanks for commenting... it’s a career / business move for me too. I’d really love to be able to incorporate block chain into our business - I love the idea of people owning their own data
