As requested: a couple of my Aussie hip hop tracks from a few years ago

in teamaustralia •  8 years ago  (edited)

Don't really rap any more. Rap was always an expression of poverty, depression and addiction for me and I'm in a much better place now. Moved on completely from that life: I'm sober, happy and running my own business.

Was just planning on posting some of my more personal verses that also work as poetry/spoken word, but @jasonstaggers requested some audio in my other post so here we go:

This is just bars, no real topic just writing in the early morning after a gig and park cypher.

This one's a bit more personal, wrote it when I first started trying to get my life back on track. RIP Gargoyle.

Both beats are jacked, second one is Greek producer Somehowart and first is Melbourne wizard Must Volkof of Pang Productions fame.

The first one is just an iPhone recording, but actually sounds better than the second which was recorded in a studio - more a reflection of my poor mixing abilities than anything.

Anyway hope you enjoy and as usual, 20% of rewards going to @centerlink (manually til I can get auto working again).

I like it

Thanks yaya

dope af bro. you got some bars!

I think it's nice to have something like that to look back on and see how far you've come and how things have changed since recording.

Cheers bro, stoked - I know you set a pretty high bar for your hip hop!

Nice work mate. It's not every day you can pick up an Aussie accent in a rap :)

Both are good, but there's a little more passion that comes through in Done Being Poor. That would be my pick of the two.

Thanks for posting.

Thanks for your feedback Jason, much appreciated. Though surprised you haven't heard more Aussie hip hop - Melbourne is the hip hop and graffiti capital of oz!

This is one of Melbourne's greats, Trem from Lyrical Commission:

Second hand vinyls of this album were going for 1000 AUD the year it was released and you'd be lucky to even get one now. There's none on ebay atm.

Not a huge rap fan, however enjoyed this and I'll support my Aussie brethren, followed and upboated!

Cheers matey, following you back. Are you a member of Team Australia yet?

@Choogirl this looks like a good candidate - already repping Australia hard over in #Poetry.

No idea how to become a member. I joined some discord and signed up for two other ones though.

Originally you just had to post where you were from and the founder would add you, but it was too much work so now it's based on scouting.

You are seriously killing it over in poetry, that's pretty amazing.

I try to give only the best of words. <3

Looks like you've made close to 4k AUD in a little over a week :O

just a minnow :(

Power all that up into Steem Power and you won't be a minnow!

the centerlink post made me laugh hardout.

Yeah @Centerlink are great, they upvote all the team's posts!

So I wasn't the only one asking about these? There seems to be a bit of demand for your music then! Something different and a little bit more meaningful than general copywriting to use your skills for as well.

Glad to hear you're in a better place both personally and professionally. If you understand even some basic risk management techniques, the online trading world has so much upside no matter your account size. So much upside and raw potential for people out there that want to learn and immerse themselves in it like you have.

Cheers for sharing!

Thanks mate and big ups for all the opportunities you've thrown at me along the way

Dope man seriously! :)

Cheers mate! I wasn't sure whether you felt that sort of stuff at all.

Some wicked acts up brizzy way ... dig Kings Konekted, you heard much of them?

This is dope:

@bulleth I actually think these are awesome. I grew up in a less than desirable circumstance and only escaped that fate in the last 4 years. Nearly 23 and life couldn't be more different for the better. Judging from your intro you are feeling the same, which makes me happy.

Keep moving forward and developing into your best self :)

All the best
