Hi Steemians,
Fresh. Juicy. Figs. One of the first plants that mankind cultivated for his own consumption. Referenced in the Bible, in Greek mythology, known as the tree of knowledge of good and evil in the Hebrew Bible. Tastes awesome.
Nutritional Value
Raw figs contain a variety of vitamins and minerals, albeit in small doses. Vitamins B, C, K and Calcium, Iron, Magnesium, Phosphorus and Potassium. There's no overload here, and a good amount (15%) of recommended dietary fibre per fig.
I Am The Protector Of Figs
Well, not really, but the magpies stole a lot of figs off me over the years, I mean they would literally just hang out at the tree and play there all day, eating when they pleased. So this season I decided to completely cover the tree. They gave up.
A Look Inside
I mean, I don't think it would take a genius to know that when you peel a fig, if what you see inside is rich, dense, and consistent, you have yourself one hell (no reference to the Bible) of a fig. Let's take a look...Magnificent.
The Conspiracy
Grow your own fruit and vegetable Steemians. I can help you, just hit me up. You are being robbed blind at the shopping centres, tasteless, old, frozen, defrosted, void of nutrients, every trick in the book. Stay away please. And the Government shall not tax my figs. If you would like to try one of my figs, and you are in the Perth area, you are welcome. I will also be bringing some to the Perth Steem Meetup, so we can all share in the spoils.
Ciao for Now!
Good job fighting off the magpies, looks delicious!
