Let me tell you my secret, I was able to lose 22lbs over 12weeks to win then contest. I didn't do anything too dramatic and wasn't overly massive to begin with. I started at 198lbs and finished at 176lbs. I would say my baseline weight is usually around 185 but obviously had let myself go for a bit.

My downfall is snacking in the evenings. I constantly find myself scavenging the house for anything to snack on. I try to watch the scale on a regular basis and generally do fluctuate a lot on weight.

Anyways I'll let you know my secrets. I've always read "You lose weight in the kitchen and gain muscle in the gym" So I concentrated on diet. I stopped snacking and paid close attention to my portions during the day. The other trick was controlling hunger, so I made sure my meals had higher amounts of protein and less high glycemic index carbohydrates. To help with night time snacking I started drinking a lot of tea at night.

I did run a few times during the contest for exercise and have enjoyed running in the past. The main form of exercise was parking at a park about 1km from work and walking too and from work. This was really great it was a nice way to start and end the day and also saved me $8 a day for parking.

Here are some transformation photos. Some of them are from previous challenges along the way. I am generally able to hunker down and really hit the gym hard or diet for 6-12 weeks. I do need to work more on making sustainable and lifelong changes.

I did debate how to spend this money on silver, steem or bitcoin. I did decide to buy more steem power and hopefully it will finally get me my vote slider.

Awesome job! And inspirational too. I have gained 25-30lbs in the last two years... fat & happy with life :)

But not happy with the meat-scarf i'm wearing, nor all the clothes i don't fit into.
Winter is coming!!!
I am going to start a challenge soon -- and i think steemit will help me remain accountable.
Good job man, you're a sexy beast!

Thanks man, I'm very competitive so the contest format works very well for me. The weight totally sneaks up on you eh, it's the same thing with me. I try to watch every few days and when it starts trending away, I rein it back in for a couple weeks. Good luck dude!

Congratulations on your transformation! I'm always amazed to see how human body can change with proper eating and exercising. One of my tips to stay lean even when I am trying to gain some muscle mass is to eat carbs at the right moment. Which means in the morning, before a workout and after a workout. At these times, carbs are used optimally and are not stored as body fat. Another tip is to eat protein with carbs to slow down the digestion process.

You mentioned you bought some Steem Power. I'm thinking of buying some as well. I really believe in this social media and wonder what are all the advantages? Your advice is more than welcome! :)

Hey thanks alot for the tips. There certainly a lot to eating just right and making the most of your meals and food.
As for getting STEEM power it does help and it's great to be able to give a bit more of a vote to your friends and commentators around here. Also of course you seam to get more of a following when people know you have a better vote to throw around. I also strongly believe in the platform and hope that the value of STEEM will raise over time. Otherwise I'm a total crypto newbie. I just buy some Bitcoin and use blocktrades to convert it to STEEM. There may be other/better ways.

I'm so happy for your success! I'm one of those lucky people to lose "half my size" a few years ago and I'm always on the lookout for success stories.

It seems they are often similar - a switch to a healthy lifestyle and that does the trick like magic.

Do you plan to go back to driving to work now? Or change anything else or stay like your are?

Regardless - great job and I hope you get your slider. i'm still waiting to be worth 2 cents!

Upvoted, resteemed and will tweet your post. I have a steemer list over there with 100 people on it so hopefully some will jump over here to see your great results!

Hey thanks very much for all the feedback and support. I will for sure be keeping up with the walking but we'll see how the winter goes. I do want to get back into running more again, but I'll just continue to take it slow.

Good for you. Don't let it slide even if you freeze. Save the money for something you want to buy in March lol.

Exercise is important but maintain a healthy diet is even more important. You have to listen to you body and feed it what it's telling you it can handle. My body cannot handle many different kinds of food anymore. So I just stay away from all the food my body doesn't like and not only have I lost weight but I feel so much better too!

Yeah I definitely notice it more these day when I cheat, I think my body got used to having proper food.

wow ... great job!!!

Thank you very much. I appreciate the feedback.

That's awesome! Invest invest. #thealliance

Thanks man. I keep adding a little extra to STEEM when I get it.

Looking good Pheli! 10kg is a decent effort for sure.

Yeah I'm pleased with it. Now to keep it off and maybe drop another 5lbs maybe. I'd like to average around 175.

Stop talkin' in pounds. I have to convert.

You look very good losing all that weight.
A lot of hard work but it paid out for you.
I also lost 70 lb
Changing my diet and way I eat.
I hope your photos will change other people's lives to

Thank you very much, and well done with your weight loss. It is really much healthier and makes so many little things all day long just that much easier.

Way to go! I'd say try to keep walking every day from the park, that alone will save you over 2k/year, keep you fit and potentially add years to your life! Awesome work, keep going stay healthy!

Yeah, I'm totally keeping up with the one. I just love the chance to be out in nature for a short walk before and after work too. It's a great transition.

That's awesome! Good for you 👐

Damn this is inspiration mate!

Thanks, I hope so. It's totally possible and didn't take a huge change in lifestyle or diet.

i lost around 30 pounds, i wish there was a contenst for it :)

Yeah it was one nice bonus for sure. It lined up perfect since I was hoping to get back on track anyways.

wow 22lbs in 12weeks

Not bad eh, The first few feel off fast, then it slowed down quite a bit in the middle to about 0.5-1lb/week.

woosh

Your a beast ninja man! Thx

Thanks bro, its about to get better!

Wow way to go man! Smart going slow and controlling it.

Yeah, it does really help to make more sustainable changes that way.

Great job! I hope you will stay healthy and enjoy the slimmer body!

I hope so to, just need to keep an eye and make sure to maintain some good long term habits.

Yeah, that's the hardest part I find to be honest. I have lost 24kg 10 years ago (went from 97 ->73), and now I'm back at 85 :(. I really need to get it back down to 80 or so. But in a muscly way. It's not that I eat unhealthy, but it's all the beer (I'm belgian ;-) ) and little snacks you grab along the way.

Unbelievably awesome! What a transition bud. Congrats, u deserved it 👊😎

Thanks man, been hard at work over here, well not that hard.

Way to go! Good job for sticking with it too.

Yeah, I've took the last few weeks off, but I'll need to get back to the better eating habits.

Losing that kind of weight is harder than it looks. Good on you for staying focused and on track. Congrats!

Thanks yeah, It's mostly about staying focused and consistent.
