As promised to my teammalaysia teammates, here it comes the English version of my previous post on “Why do you need to join Steemit? “ which is in Mandarin version.

Why do you need to join Steemit?
Cryptocurrencies has become an irreversible trend that no one could stop its future development of growing bigger and more robust. The current leader in cryptocurrency Bitcoin may or may not stay as the leading currency in the future due to unforeseen circumstances. But one thing for sure is , there definitely will be another cryptocurrency that functions faster or more accepted to replace Bitcoin.
All the recent price hike and hiccup in cryptocurrencies , may lead you to think that all these scenarios were just manipulated by someone or some parties, everything is just illusion. As such you decided not to spend a penny of your hard-earn money into any cryptocurrency, but yet you feel like taking part in some form or another in crypto world. Steemit is definitely the best platform for you !
Cryptocurrency has become one of the investment tools in these days. AND
The risk of not taking part in it is much higher than the risk you invest in it
Moreover, you do not need to spend a single cent in order to take part in Steemit to generate income!
I could see worried and queries in you – that Steem Dollars , is just a number reflected in your Steemit account and it’s not real money. I did share the same concern as you, but I took a moderate way – to try and error to verify.
And at the very last day of Year 2017, I tried to transfer out my Steem Dollars and guess what, my Maybank account reflected the money debited ! I have written a post on this memorable moment of converting cryptocurrency into real Ringgit that I could spend:

Why Steemit?
Every cryptocurrency has its own mission. E.g Bitcoin aims to replace the reserve currency of US Dollars , ETH Ether aims to become the smart contract between parties. So Steemit’s mission is to replace the current social medias (Facebook, Instagram, Weibo) that majority of us use it everyday.
Facebook provides us free server service for us to share our days with friends and family, to interact each other. In exchange of your personal data eg what you like most, where you travel daily, in order to achieve the high accuracy target-oriented advertisement effect.
Have we ever thought to monetizing our own data instead of becoming purely big data of Facebook?
Participating in Steemit, allows you to clock some points of whatever you blog or comments, and these points are in the form of Steem Dollars, which is some form of token. To speak in the language that our fellow Malaysian members familiar to is:
Imagine you go shopping in Aeon Mall, if you are Aeon Member, aren’t you getting some points whenever you spend in Aeon ? how about Bonuslink Point/Citibank $. Isn’t this points generated whenever you carry out the shopping activity ?
I bet you wouldn’t challenge to say why xxx amounts points can change something something in exchange but not yyy amount right ? And if you were to shop frequently in eg Aeon Mall , isn’t it better to have some points while you shop than you don’t have any with the same amount of Ringgit spent?
And if you are staying in Singapore as I do . Imagine when you do shopping in NTUC fairprice, you will get LinkPoint of which 150 Linkpoint equivalent to S$1 in rebate of future purchase. I guess you wouldn’t complain why 150 Linkpoints not 100 or 200 to S$1 return right ? Or you’d rather strategized yourself to the game rules ?
We use social media daily. Wouldn’t it be nice if some platform enables us to interact with others and at the same time , to earn some pocket money ?
In Malaysia Steemit community, the Klang Valley group definitely the train turbo engine, with many sifus and big whales in it. They have organised one gathering for fellow teammalaysia Steemian last week . You can refer the article below for more detail:
Me and my good friends @pizzapai @cherryng were unfortunately not able to make ourselves available for the first Steemians Meetup in Kuala Lumpur. When we were talking about it, some thought came into our mind- “Why don’t we organize one, of smaller scale, to meet fellow Steemians in southern part of Malaysia Peninsula- Johor Bahru”.
We could make it an Introduction session to Steemit world or just a learning sessions with our seniors & sifus. We are honoured to have @davidke20 who told us whenever we have gathered 10 person, then he’s willing to come JB/Iskandar for knowledge sharing let us see his handsome face.
Tentatively our idea is to have it somewhere near Legoland , a small hall or decent quiet restaurant maybe. Venue is not fixed yet. But we wish to see a show of hand whoever Steemian base in Southern Malaysia/Singapore interested to join us for the event. Paiseh to ask @davidke20 travelling that far just to meet few of us
Anyone who is interested, do drop us under the comment column, so that we can inform you should there any concrete date fixed for the gathering Best is to upvote me as well :p
