It's so great to see more and more people signing up to Steemit and it's counterpart (Dtube, Busy, all the others). Even in Malaysia alone, we are now truly seeing the beginnings of an exponential growth as more Steemians begin to personally talk about Steemit to their peers.

It's really a No-Brainer for people to join in on the platform, more often than not some more passionate ones will hold their breath down to the second to wait for their account approval. And since it's you who introduced him/her t sign up, often will suffer the headache of getting calls and message every 20 seconds, "Hey where is my account, why not yet approve??".

The other day during the Masterclass I had a short conversation with @eric-isaiah and he did point out an issue he has with getting her sister to sign up. She has waited for 2 months without any reply from Steemit.inc on her new account. We cant really blame Steemit.inc whatsoever, They get what must be thousands of new sign up request everyday and it's being approved manually, it's only typical that some may slip throught the crack.
Though it feels bummed out to net get your friend a steem account from Steemit, there is actually a way to get a new steem account within 20 seconds without needing any approval from Steemit.inc.

This how to is for those who wants an account right here right now, bear in mind that because of how it works, please make sure to only do it for a friend that is super serious! You dont want to pay the price, get it all done, and then have that friend not do anything with the account afterwards. It has happened to me and so dont let it happen to you. make sure your friend is super serious about Steem, in fact, i'd say let your friend prove his/her worth! get that post ready and drafted first to show his/her enthusiasm!!

Why is it possible in 20 seconds?

To let you know how this is possible, I should explain abit how accounts work on the Steem Blockchain, the database technology that powers Steemit.com and similar sites.

Unlike centralized Social Media like Facebook and Youtube, the data you posted to Steemit are stored in the Steem Blockchain.

To actually create an account on the steem blockchain is not free. There is a fee that is supposed to be paid, and the fee for such account creation are agreed upon by special people on the blockchain called "Witnesses". This is why it is absolutely important to to vote the right witnesses who have our best interest in heart as they affect how your steem account will function.

You can see the account creation fee proposal by each individual witness by checking their witness properties in the witness list.

All the proposals by the witnesses will be tallied and calculated with an algorithm to come up with the "consensus account fee", which you can view straight from a Steem blockchain explorer, either in Steemd.com or Steemdb.com, or any other Steem blockchain explorer.

Bear in mind this number, because actually, this is how much is needed to be paid to create an account! Yes, when steemit.inc gave you an account, they actually paid the fee from their own wallet, it is super-duper possible one day this will no longer be a case in the future and everyone who signs up for an account have to pay for it. I mean, is it really that bad to pay less than a dollar for an account that might get you thousands?

The way the Steem Blockchain works, any account with enough bandwidth allocation, as well as enough steem to pay for the fee, can be able to get another account.

So how to i do it?

Here are what you need to do.

1. Go to the Steemconnect tool

2. check whether the name of your new account is available by searching with the browser, `steemit.com/@"youraccount"

If there are no accounts exists with that name, you're in luck!! The account is available. plug that name in Steemconnect!

Now remember the "account creation fee"? That is the amount of steem you need to pay to create the account.

1. Pay the minimum account creation or more. The formula is account creation fee x 30, so meaning as for the creation of this demo account, as the account creation fee is stated as 0.100 steem. We should pay at least 3 steem. The fee will be the number of steem that will be burned for the new account, if you put in more that the fee, the remainder will show up at the new account's steem power.

Be very aware of low-SP bandwidth issue. While an account with 0 SP is possible, it is technically useless since it can't do anyhting at all as it has no SP to be eligible for bandwidth, which is used for all the transactions and activities on the Steem blockchain.

You will be given a WIF (Wallet Import Format) key for your new account, and you (or your friend) can use that to log into their new account!

Thats it!! You've created a new account that can be signed in and used just like any account provided by Steemit.inc!!

Caveats?

There is no central authority on the blockchain. More so when you create your own account.

While with Steemit it is possibility* to take back your account with the help of steemit.inc if it were stolen. With this method, you are solely responsible for that account.
