Soliloquy (an act of speaking one's thoughts aloud when by oneself or regardless of any hearers) is a weekly blog as the thoughts and takeaway or highlights of the week of my life throughout the year 2018. I aim to look back at these entries in the future as a reference of how I might change in the way I think, write, express and especially grow. This is a self-development blog, with no aim to cater to any audience other than being an open journal.

It's my final work week here in Malacca.

Hopefully things gets slow enough that I can get back to writing stuff on the blockchain.

Being almost totally cut off from the web has given me some new perspective on things like time management and how some things are actually not important and i wont die if i no longer have it.
For one thing, I have gone through what is effectively a forced digital detoxification. I can pretty much count the times i went to the typical social media this whole month.

And what do you know! I'm still alive. Imagine the productivity i can achieve if i keep up with not going to these attention draining sites and do my work in my day to day life.

I recently came across @yallapapi (well i guess he's all over the trending page now, not easy to miss out on him) and DAMN are his words literal fire!!

So many people need to read what he has to say, as harsh and rough as the way he packaged his message. And many more people need to realize he is right. I have tried to distance myself from the ongoing H vs B "conflict" and all the shit slinging that goes on worth it.
I think it's a waste of time and productivity that can be put to better use. But if i ever get pulled in too deep into the fray and got myself on a drunken enraged spiel on the issue, what @yallapapi said will be exactly my sentiment.

The steem blockchain is like the internet when it was first created. Normal people thought "email, yellow-page on a screen, newspaper online", visionary thought ahead and think "total restructure of human social interaction" and things like that. Normal people limit not only the potential of something but ultimately the potential of themselves.

@Yallapapi made an extremely apt example of what the "pool rapist" would have become should he did the smart thing and act based on the long term. He is sacrificing the potential long term millions for the short term tens of thousands. People like that don't last long, they will have no legacy to speak of in the future.

Here you have the best Ice-cream Coconut shake in Malacca, and it's about only 20 minute walking distance from where i am"

It's selfishly a good thing that i can see only so few people truly realize the true potential of the Steem Blockchain. The rest complains about things like "My content isn't properly rewarded".
It's not about the now, its about setting yourself up for success when Steemit becomes mainstream. Judging at how Facebook, Youtube and even Reddit are shooting themselves in the foot, I'd say it wont be long.

Remember that the collective psyche doesn't even know what the heck Facebook is before it hit 1 million users. I remember my schoolmates calling me a weirdo for telling them about Facebook and not the at-the-time famous social media called "Friendster".

"You're telling me i cant customize my page theme, i cant add people who i don't know, and no one else but you that i know off has an account there? You're Stupid"... Yea now she's as addicted to Facebook as any regular Jane. She does post pretty nice selfie though.

It will be the same thing for Blockchain enabled tokenized incentive social media like Steemit. If you think in the 7 day period, your are literally thinking paycheck-to-paycheck. Don't do that.

It's why I'm so invested on here even if "i don't make enough per post". Steemit isn't a job, you don't have employers here. Steemit is an investment and a business. You have the market here. and the commodity is attention, the product - your content.

I am counting down to the day my contract job ends (it's in a few days btw) and finally travel Malacca properly. I have so much planned out and so many things i wanna do. Can't help but feel positive.

The year 2018 is 12/52 is done, it is now 23.07% gone.

So you plan to go back to Sarawak after your contract ends??? You are from Kuching?

Yep.. Unfortunately I can't stay in melaka post contract. Maybe some other times here.

Going back straight to Miri to unpack and de-stress.. Then maybe head to KK for another project.

Oh ok.. maybe you should go to German to be closer to your dear.. and get a project there.. haha

ooo That'll be the dream. Though i surmise the requirement needed to be a licensed industrial drone pilot to be very different there.

Wait.. you area a licensed industrial drone pilot???

As far as within the jurisdiction of Malaysia, yes. In fact I can say that I'm one of the earliest to be registered in their database of drone pilots. The only hiccup is that there is no enforcement yet by the government (the law is there, but no one go catch people). So there is as if no difference between any Ah Beng with a Mavic Pro and someone who has gone through strict vetting like myself.

But of course once they start catching illegal fliers, that's when someone like myself can finally offer a value proposition.

It's like being an industrial inspector. Any smug suite-wearing smartass from management can go to the factory and say "This machine still okay ley". But his assessment doesn't mean anything unless he is a certified inspector.

Oh wow.. I have a few friends who are full time videographers and fly drones all around the world.. my uncle is also a die hard into drone... I have heard of all sorts of stories about drones:

  • Only the king is in Bhutan is allowed to fly drones
  • Permits and a licensed paid tour guide has to accompany you at all times when you fly drones in Vietnam, after you pay a lot for the permit and the guide.
  • Airports which for you to leave your drone at the airport and you can only pick it up when you leave the country

My problem about licensed drone is that every country has its license/certification. It will be good if we can get a globally recognised certificate and then pay a nominal fee when you decide to fly in a country that we are visiting.
