The Buddhist Procession

Greetings Steemians!

I have posted about how I spent my CNY week and on visiting Labuan during Chap Goh Mei yesterday.

When my family were about to attend the Sunday Mass at St.Thomas Church Kepayan, here in Penampang, there were these groups of Buddhist Practitioners doing the procession around at the same area.

I was wondering after the ending of the CNY celebration and there is still a procession held. I thought it is only celebrated on the 15th day of CNY. So I ask one of my colleague who is practising Buddhism. He said it was in conjunction with the birth celebration of one of the Gods. Normally the Buddhist will practise as such. They will bring the Gods out of the temple to celebrate such occasion by doing the procession.

As you can see from the pictures, the procession passed-by the St. Thomas Church Kepayan.

(I guess this is the Gods that his birthday is being celebrated due to, he is sitting in that special place)

It shows that we in Sabah respect each other’s belief and religion. Even though the Church Service is about to start and the procession is on going with a very loud bang on their drums and gongs, no complaints no nothing have taken place. The procession went on smoothly without disturbances.

We are truly blessed as we are living in harmony. The concept of understanding and respecting both being practiced.
