Life Lesson - The Bird and The Ant

It was a very fine day, the sun was shining brightly. At a distance, there is a line of ants carrying foods back to their nest. One worker ant felt so tired and exhausted, so he decided to have a drink to quench his thirst at a nearby river. The thought of the cold pure water races through his mind, he put down the food he was carrying and hurriedly went to the river. As he was having a drink by the river bank, a sudden strong gust of wind suddenly threw him off into the river. He can't swim, so he cried for help, hoping that someone could hear his cries.

Not further away, a bird was resting on a tree branch, he suddenly woke up upon hearing the ant's cries for help. He searched for the voice and saw the ant struggling to stay afloat on the water. The bird quickly plucked a piece of leaf and dropped it in the water, hoping that the ant might reach it. The ant saw the fallen leaf and struggled to grab it, with all his might he stretched, and took a grab of it. He was fortunate that the leaf didn't fall further from him. He clung on the leaf, and the leaf floats over to the river bank. The ant went up the river bank, exhausted but thankful that he is still alive. He thanked the bird and told him that he will pay back his kindness one day. The ant then joined back his ants' friends and went back to his nest. The bird was happy that he did something good that day, and he also went back to his nest to rest.

A few weeks later, the bird rested at the same tree where he met the ant. He was resting after having a heavy meal earlier, then he fell asleep. Not far away, a hunter was lurking, searching for animals to hunt. Then the hunter saw the bird resting on the tree branch. He took out his bow and stretched the arrow. Before he can release it, he felt a stinging pain on his leg and then he cried in pain. He accidentally let go of the arrow, and it missed the bird, and the bird woke up, saw the hunter and quickly flew away to escape. The bird was fortunate that day, his friend the ant saw the hunter was aiming his arrow at him. The ant remembered how the bird has saved him previously, and now is the time to pay back his kindness. The ant went up the hunter's leg and bit him and the hunter loses his focus and missed the bird.

The next day, the bird went to look for the ant, when he found him, he thanked the ant for saving his life. "I should have thanked you for saving my life first, I was just returning the favor", said the ant. Since then they became the best of friends.

The moral of the story

People will always remember if you did good or bad to them. Be good to others always and one day when you are in trouble, they will always help you out.
