So You Wanna Be A Bassist????

in teammalaysia •  7 years ago

First before I start, here's one question: You wanna be a bassist?? Really??

Let me slap you lightly so that you can come to your senses. Why bass? You barely can't even hear the bass. Go and turn your radio, listen to all your favorite song, you don't hear any bass in it. Why don't you choose something that you can actually hear? Like drums, guitar/lead guitar or maybe singing? Do you know the name of the bass player in any bands that you listen to (nope, I don't think so)?

So you if you guys still reading to this point, means you really wanna be a bassist. But you don't need a video, books, or someone that can teach you because bass is super easy and simple, besides, no one's gonna hear you anyway.

No one's gonna hear you anyway, so just do some action with your bass guitar

FYI, bass doesn't make people dance, its the singer and the sound of the guitar, not the bass! Plus, bass player didn't make any money or get any fame, because people really don't care about the bass player. I suggest you to go and learn something which is more challenging like the drums, shredding guitar, piano or maybe singing for example. Don't ever waste your time trying to learn bass.

But if you insist of becoming a bassist, gracias! Here's some of my tips of becoming a bass player:

  • Always use a pick

The worse bass player slaps and always use their fingers because to be honest, they don't even know what a bass is. If they do, then they must understand that to be a bass player, they obviously use the pick in order to get the best bass tone and to rock with the other guitar player!

For God's sake, use the pick!!!!!!!

    • The bass must be below your waist!

Bassist error, might be a sign of a newbie bassist

Why?? Simple, because in order for the audience to pay attention at you, you must be as cool as your band's members!!

Look, that's how you as a bassist rocking out with your other band members. Cool eh?

      • Make sure you have a great relationship with everyone

Make sure your relationship stay good with your friends, families and, if you don't have a girlfriend right now, I'm sorry to break this up to you but, I don't think you ever gonna have one if you're a bass player. Well, chicks don't understand bass player, same goes to your friends and families! I mean, who on earth really understand bass player!?

      The caption says it all

      • Sell all your bass and all your gears

Why bother upgrading your bass or gears, no one will ever notice if you have some fuzzy tone, overdrive tone, synth tone or an octave tone. People don't even know the name of the tone, plus, they don't even notice if you have a great compressor, or noise suppressor/noise gate and to make it more exact, they will never notice if your bass is out key. So don't bother buying pedals or even a pedal tuner, save your money! Sell all your bass stuff and throw your money to something legit, like cars, food, gadget or maybe a new tattoo? As you all know, you will never earn a cent becoming a bass player.

Organize a garage sell for your gears

      • You must have a really, really, really, I mean, really loud amp

As I said before, no one will ever hear you play or notice you! So the solution is, you must have a really loud amp, period, in order for people to slightly listen some of your groove. Because whenever a gig is over, all you listen from the audience is, " Oh God, did you hear the drummer, singer, guitar, solo.......Awesome!!" , "wait, there's a bass player just now? I didn't saw a bassist just know, I thought it was the keyboard." If you wanna be in people story, get a loud amp!

And now you've learned the tips of becoming a great bass player! I now certified you a bass player, go and make us proud!!!
